So I have been caught out. I am in Dorset and heading back up to London this afternoon the scorching weather has turned to rain and showers. I have all my rain proof kit with me but I have forgot to pack my rain proof gloves.

I am stuck with my short summer gloves which aren’t rain proof. Any good suggestions for resisting the rain for my trip back?

I was thinking of getting a pair of those plastic gloves from the petrol station and wearing them inside my gloves? Hot and sweaty maybe?

Any smart alternatives?

Marigolds from the local co-op?? wink or just suck it up and be a man!

Should I use blue top or green top milk bottles?

Was the most environmentally friendly way to dispose of the milk?

This.

Just make sure you air dry them and treat with leather conditioner when you get home. Stops the leather drying out and fading / cracking.

I bought some Lindstrands gloves that work well across most of the year, and will cope with your average shower without leaking (so far). I love em.

Autoglym do cream for restoring convertible roofs that re waterproofs them. Works quite well on gloves and makes them smell nice.

They're awesome, very thin for a goretex lined glove so good for summer use.

Free waterproof gloves can be found near diesel pumps!

Thought about it many times but never tried them before. I have heard of some people wearing surgical gloves under summer gloves but aside from stopping your hands getting dyed, I don't know if you'd feel any benefit.

Don't do what we did one year, wet ride from Goodwood to Donington (FOS to GP), very wet gloves placed in B&B airing cupboard overnight - sorry about all the dyed sheets!

Well I was pretty lucky as it goes as the sun shone for all its worth on my ride back. I took some lovely routes.

Need to get some water proof all season gloves though. Hmmnn shopping to do.
