It is easier to beg for forgiveness than permission..

The guy I bought my blackbird from said years ago when his wife went away on a girly wknd he bought himself a nice capri. When she asked about it he told her he built it himself from spare parts in his garage lol.

She believed it too.

Damage limitation time. Pre-emptively apologise for the expense of having the Ducati rebadged and repainted.

My better half genuinely couldn't tell the difference between my Bandit and my BMW K1200 R Sport... although they were a similar colour.

I think your best bet is to get the Duc's tank wrapped wink

A good friend told me it's easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission.

Stunning bike. That colour suits it nicely.

Just as well I didn't see it on Saturday, otherwise I would have probably gone straight down to the showroom for a look.

This reminds me of one of my old man's friends.

He had a Yamaha R1 he bought back in 2005, which he sold earlier this year with 3,000 miles on the clock. His wife was glad he finally sold the bike.

What she didn't know was he'd actually had 3 new R1's since the initial purchase and just chopped them in every 2-3 years, making sure they were always blue and he transferred his private plate over.

She still doesn't have a clue smile

Get a big blanket and cover it up, make sure its dirty and has oil on it
(She wont touch it)

My girlfriends and women at work dont have a scooby doo about bikes.
I think you will be safe.

Very nice! I was admiring that paint scheme a few weeks ago in my local Triumph dealer.
I did something very similar last year and got the T100 Black to go with my GSXR. Unfortunately I couldnt pretend its the same bike for obvious reasons. smile

Additional. She hasn't ventured into the garage since we bought the house, and I can only ride one bike at a time, so I think I'm in with a shot.
I could easily get away with such shennanigans when my misses is away, plus she's never in the garage, well her arm's been in with a cup of tea stuck on the end of it.Well i think it's her arm, there's certainly enough hair on it!

The tank that you found on eBay was an absolute bargain. The new colour scheme makes it look like a different bike! wink

Recently did something similar. Chopped in my old CB1300 for a much newer B-King without the Fuhrer's permission.
I've had it about 3 months now and the outraged whinging is beginning to drop off a bit. I still get the odd speech from the Reichstag on the subject, but other more pressing concerns like, "what do you mean, you forgot to turn the oven on?" and "when are you going to mow the lawn?" seem to be starting to take precedence. I reckon another six months and it'll something else will have her attention, finally leaving me to enjoy it in piece...probably.

I managed to go from February to August without the Mrs noticing that I had forgotten to sell my KLE500 when I bought my Hornet. It was only when I had forgotten and parked both outside that she finally twigged.
I bought shoes and stuff and all was fine.

You'll be fine, how can she ever imagine you would be ok without female guidance for a whole weekend :-p

When i bought my bike i simply just text her from London on the Friday, she was going away for the weekend, so i had a 200 mile buffer and two days head start.

Luckily, she wasn't annoyed, just disappointed... Which in my book is fine.

Lack of honesty and trust in a relationship works both ways. Whilst some guys are slapping themselves on the back that their missus has put up with their latest purchase or subterfuge statistics show that a fair number of the women will be getting their revenge not by buying handbags but playing away from home. All's fair in love and war....

Mind you, if the other half is having an affair it probably leaves more free time for biking so there is always a silver lining...

Some amateur mistakes going on here. As long as I take them out one at a time and the "wasps nest" remain in the garage I should be ok...
