Having banged on about it on a couple of my threads I finally got out on the SD 1290 today.

I collected it on Friday in the rain and have been busy all weekend.

Today i decided it was time to start working towards the 620 mile first service.

144 miles later and i'm smitten with the SD.

Whilst its obviously a very potent package, with the TC on its dead easy to ride. Scrubbing in the Dunlops was no issue although after 170 miles in total i would have expected the front to have lost its hairs but they still survive. Stickier rubber needed.

Throttle response is cracking, it has a lovely overun and the riding position was effortless all day. I've not ventured into turning off the TC yet, i figured i should probably get a few miles under my belt before unleashing it, 170 miles down tomorrow shes going full bore.

Looking forward to Poole Quay tomorrow evening, if you're there look out for the tt SD 1290 (Read my plate....)

Day 2 - 170.6 miles today. 42 mpg and average speed of 49 mph.

Jesus if this bike was a bird i'd marry it...

Gave the tyres more work today and they rewarded with utterly inspiring grip. I hated them yesterday but now they are scrubbed in its much better. I'm stunned how easy it is to throw it into a corner or roundabout and then fire it out. I took,a few wrong turns to Poole and doing loops of a roundabout it's just grips and I even found myself one handed thanking a car driving for not pulling out and killing me.

The wave of torque as you exit a junction is criminal. It builds speed like nothing I've even ridden. My 1078r was fast but the SD it's just better.

Lots of nice bikes at Poole this evening, only one 1290....

Can't wait for tomorrow's antics!!
