Gents, its been suggested in a thread from GG part of the forum that you guys might be able to help. Taken from here:

My car is mapped for 99 Ron fuel (jap import), when I went to to th IOM around 8 years ago (in the same car) they used to have a shell garage selling v power. All was well.
Now I'm off to the IOM again on Friday and have just discovered that shell have left the island and Manx petroleum has taken over.
For those that live on the island or have visited can you advise if there are any options for high octane fuel please.
Starting to panic!

Do you not have the ability to dial down the boost when having to use lower octane fuel??
Seems a bit odd to map a car exclusively for a fuel which isn't available everywhere and not provide a secondary option or fallback.
If it's been mapped then that intimates there's a programmable ECU aboard which should be adjusting the timing and fuel maps or trims depending on measured manifold pressure? Lower the Manifold Pressure and you lessen the cylinder pressure which reduces knock/det....
and to be knocking on a -2 Ron point change in fuel seems to say the motor is mapped to a knife edge.....
