I keep requesting monthly updates from the police regarding the case, there is always something happening next, but everything seems to drag on forever!

Apparently they have all the evidence, and the CPS are going to prosecute, but the latest update is that "the file is going through numerous admin stages with the Police and CPS admin departments, and a Court date will be allocated soon"

So this is still happening and moving forward, albeit at a snails pace. I think it has been 9 months now?
This is why there is no real substitute for a good old fashioned public lynching.

As long as the case is still being prepared then why rush.

Hope he gets put away for a long time.

fking ridiculous the justice system needs a kick up the arse. Who the fk else could take a month or longer to respond / action something in their daily jobs? There's no fking excuse.

Fingers crossed it ever gets to court.

This brings back memories of our "burglar" who left dna (blood) when smashing up our house breaking in and then out when the alarm went off.
Turns out he was 17 with 40 plus previous various offences.
He pleaded guilty, and admitted loads more offences. He got a £100 compensation order to us and a "thinking skills" course.
I had to push and push the CID to do anything or update us. They knew his address but every time they called he climbed out the bedroom window and ran off.

It took 3 months to catch him before he got sent to court. He's still not paid a single penny back. Despite ringing the fines unit at court they promised loads but did nothing.

I did at least track him down via Facebook and had the satisfaction a year later of him bragging he was in HMP Doncaster for further burglaries.

Absolute pond life and the lack of quick action or decent outcome just boils your blood.

Sorry to hear your woes OP, just hope karma prevails as these type of people often get into further bigger issues.
Once it's done try putting it behind you as being wound up forever just affects you

Sounds like the "thinking skills" course is needed.

Estate agents and solicitors? Did you miss the part where there simply aren't enough people to process the enormous workload?

I watch TV/films, see half a dozen cops knocking on the front door while the suspect walks out of the back door, and I think "Good job real cops are smarter than that!"...

Well done on keep pushing and finding the person.
Very sad that it takes so much work to get scum like this off the streets, but your hard work give some hope.

Not necessarily, just thinner on the ground, maybe. I'd be surprised to see half a dozen officers at most arrest attempts.

I just meant that they'd have saved a lot of time by sending one officer to the front and a second to the back. I'm not expecting all leave to be cancelled and snipers on the rooftops. smile

I haven't been riding all that long (after obtaining my FULL bike license) but I often sense hostility from some car drivers, while out on the bike.
Be it the way they attempt to position their car infront, to block me getting through, or in a 2 line flow of traffic, they'd whizz past then try cutting back in front.

I just wait patiently until the next junction or set of traffic lights, when I filter to the front of the queue and I'm gone. biggrin

I think the only solution to catching out these types is a HELMET CAMERA! Capture EVERYTHING of the incident, then drop it on YouTube or to the Police.
However when you point to your camera to indicate they are being recorded, it just infuriates them even more!

Yeah i think it happens sometimes to me. The most surprising one was filtering up the m74 which was at a standstill, a stationary dacia duster in lane 3 moved tight against the vehicle in lane 2 just as i was approaching.

Thing is, you don't know if it was just coincidence. The guy in the duster could have been trying to get a look at the hold up ahead for all i know.

Either way I reckon your answer is the best one, don't react in any way and fk off into the sunset asap.

Were you re-quoting, or did the police send you the exact same email 2 months later?

Good luck OP, hope this ultimately gets sorted out.

On another note...

So new but yet so jaded... I commute maybe an hour each way per day and have yet to experience any hostility, in fact most drivers make the effort to make space for me to get through. Your last paragraph suggests that if you maybe gave a bit more you might get a bit more back...

Hmm, I didn't re-read my previous update in this thread, but now that I have I think I have been on the receiving end of some copy-pasta.
Looks like either nothing has changed or they cannot be bothered to chase for updates!

I've very rarely experienced any hostility and I do like to make good progress. I believe, as a car driver as well, that we are all in it together, I'm certainly not at war with motorists, if you show some courtesy, respect and some good natured old fashioned manners, my experience has been that most car drivers will get over and let you by. Pointing at a helmet camera would get up anyone's hooter, it's confrontational and aggressive.

Intereresting that the copper thinks it appropriate to apologise on behalf of the CPS, what about his responsibility? don't they ever bother following up or chasing anything?

That mail reads like ste to anyone except the person that wrote it. If he put half the effort into chasing the CPS that he put into teflon coating his shoulders in that email, you'd have an answer by now.
