What a complete nutter!

I'm so glad you got his registration; I hope the police follow this up.

I'm assuming you weren't wearing a cam? How's the bike?

Suppose you can never really tell what sort of a day someone is having.

Or if they're deranged

yikes

If someone looks and acts like a nutter, don't hang around to find out how nutty they are. Use the benefits of the machine to GTFO. Mind you, who could have predicted that?

Ok, thats bizarre. The chap is clearly unhinged. Assault at the very least, maybe with a deadly weapon? Bit dramatic but he clearly intended to hit you. Any CCTV from surrounding shops/location, I would want to have as much evidence as possible. To avoid "I accidentally put the car into reverse".

Yup, police should of turned up or visited him at whenever the car is registered. Did you smell alcohol when he opened the window? That would have got the attention of the police.

Always expect a confrontation on a duel carriageway.

I hope they get him and the witness statements are enough to get him a conviction, fecking nutter.

Despite the humorous posts - this seems to be a really serious incident and one that would have left me seething and probably looking to find where he lived.

Glad you are ok OP and the damage 'appears' to be minimal so far.

I'm not saying this is a justified reason by the way so don't jump on me for asking, but did you look before changing lanes from 2 to 3??? You said he appeared out of nowhere. Cars can't actually do that. Are you sure you didn't cut him up to set him off??

Also, you pull alongside him, no hand signals to set him off??

I've never actually met someone who would do such an outrageously mental thing for absolutely no reason whatsoever

That's the sort of thing that I'd post and everyone would jump on me for being a tt. I agree though, it's rare for nothing to set a nutter off, but a hand gesture, a bit of swearing, a kick at the car, or something would be sufficient to get them on the murder trail.

Don't they're suggesting it was a proportionate response, but it would make the scenario more understandable. I don't like the idea of nutters who over-react, but I like even less the idea that there are people out there who get violent over, literally, nothing.

Of course it's not, I thought I had made my position as Devils advocate perfectly clear. Even if he had given him a wker sign, it's still not fair game.

Sometimes agitated folks percieve a slight where none exists.

Have seen similar in a previous job. Joe Public would sometimes freak out at another Joe claiming he'd made some gesture. Happened at least a couple of times a week in much more mundane circumstances than a busy road (slow moving queue of people).

Staring at him probably sparked him off. Wearing full gear and helmet is pretty intimidating sometimes. Especially if you are staring at him.
