This thread proves beyond any doubt that Darwinism is deliciously alive & well in the motorcycling community.

What a nasty little man you are.
Yes, that was over the top. I apologise.

But I have honestly dealt with a lot of motorcyclists roadside in various states of distress or deceased. And little sunshine there ticked me off.

I wish I could do a wheelie properly. I might be able to finish a whole pint myself that day

Well I could have burned him off as he was doing aforementioned wheelies, but I didn't want to embarrass him.

And no. I didn't have a dash cam. But I am getting one incase it happens again and then you lot can have a real rug over it. :-)

Yes I agree. I made a comment about how it's crap that most of the motorcycle collisions I have attended weren't due to fault of the rider. And that is wasn't easy to deal with people badly injured.
Police, Fire or Ambulance? The second and the last fair enough but when I worked for an undertakers most coppers would be hurling their insides over a hedge rather than touch a corpse, and in fact there was usually no need for them to do so.
Anyway, picking up an intact corpse is a piece of piss, it's searching the verges with a torch for the missing fingers that really makes your night.

I can keep it up and moving at a constant 145 mph according to others. Does your car go that fast?

I dont know. I only ever do 55mph as its optimal speed for economy.

YouTube is littered with Videos of idiots trying to be clever pulling wheelies and then wrecking their very expensive machines, that's if they haven't ended up in a wheelchair for the rest of their moronic life.

Some examples:-

Do you own a bike?
Err, yes, although I can't really see what your point is.

I have owned over 35 since I passed my test in 1970, including several 1000cc sports bikes.

One of my sons nearly had his leg amputated in a 35mph crash (not his fault) several years ago, that is why I feel so strongly about this idiotic behaviour.

I'm not trying to be a killjoy, and I agree some wheelies are impressive, but save them for the racetrack.

Unsure how your son's crash is related to a 120mph wheelie if he crashed and 35mph?

Hope he's mended now.

Popping a wheelie isn't automatically moronic, I've seen some very in control wheelies, but at the same time seen plenty out of control on two wheels and underneath the speed limit.

I was interested in knowing if the people that show disapproval of the great M1 wheelie hero, owned bikes, or if they were just car owners that felt the need to try and save us, with tales of woe and death.

I popped an ace (for me) wheelie the other week on the access road to a local tesco.

I got one nod of approval while it was up and lots of people watching (obviously in awe at my superior level of life skills yo!) Then had a few folk come up to me chatting about bikes.

Ergo proving everyone thinks wheelies are awesome.

If you don't wheelie with people as witnesses, how can you prove you can do them?

Plus isn't it frowned upon to do wheelies on trackdays?

I love popping wheelies, at the moment im not very good at them but im getting better and better.
I do them on industrial estates and on the road when i think its safe to do one and if i get caught then so be it, if i wreck the bike then whatever.
Wheelies will always be cool in my book!

Yes he is "OK" now, he walks with a limp and one leg is slightly longer than the other, plus he has very bad surgery, but generally is OK and getting on with life.

My point is if people realised the amount of damage you can do to your body in an accident at only 35mph...well 100mph plus...it doesn't need any thinking about.

I fully realise I am not going to change anyone's mind on this thread, and yes, wheelies are good fun (I suppose).......but so is rock climbing and freefall parachuting.......you just have to be aware of the risks, and I'm not convinced too many people think about it at the time when they are showing off.

One other thing, I certainly have no time for anyone who attempts a wheelie on a narrow road with cars coming in the other direction, If they want to maim or kill themselves that is their business.

Surely no right thinking wheelie loving person could argue with that.

Why do you assume people aren't aware of the risks?

I think there is a pretty broad spectrum of how risk averse people are. As there is with ego - perhaps leading to showing off. And as there is with arrogance - perhaps leading to assuming too much.

I agree that there is a time and a place for a wheelie. As there is for speed, for cornering hard, for allowing yourself to look down at the air conditioning controls in a car.

Nice control. Autoplay on YT just shows a constant stream of wheelie fails after that.

Personally, I love wheelies. Although a time and place for them, like on the continent with empty roads:
