I've got Friday off work, supposed to be going to Applecross/Inverness etc for 2 days but the weather is looking total pants.

However South of the border it's looking fairly decent but i've no idea where would be good to go?

Any suggestions?

Leaving from Edinburgh if that's any help. Ideally home late Saturday night.

Lake district? Some lovely roads there. Plus some nice bodies of water to go swimming in if that's your thing.

Or to answer Johnny's question, what about the NE of England?
The locals are all wannabe Scotsmen anyway.

Thunder in the Glens is this weekend, so a wall-to-wall Harleys (and one Indian wink) up the A9 and all around Aviemore, Grantown and probably folks taking runs out to Inverness etc.

Might not sound 'your thing' if you're a sports bike rider; I popped up last year just for a day not expecting much, but had a great time...so I'm going all weekend this year. Sure it's mostly Harleys but there are a few folks on sports bikes, and the run with literally hundreds (thousand plus?) bikes is something else. This is NOT a fast run, but folks line the road just to see the spectacle; mighty impressive. Plus bands of an evening, and with riders from all over the globe I found it all pretty friendly even if I wasn't on one of Milwaukee's finest.

So the highlands are probably 'out' this weekend for a spirited run. But you might have some fun pottering about with the thousands of others. You can go for a thrash any weekend, but TITG is just a once-a-year event.

Probably my best bet.

Weather for the East Coast is looking decent. Just need to dig for some decent roads south of Newcastle!

Make a proper trip of it, with a little pre-planning you can come down into lakes, Forest of Bowland, Yorkshire Dales. Great selection of different roads, fine accommodation. At a push a one night stop over, definite a leisurely two nighter. If you have the time or inclination it can be done in a loop taking in Yorkshire Wolds and North Yorks Moors.

That's the plan, leave 6am Friday morning, overnight stay and home late Saturday.

But weather is looking pants in Lake District also!

May knock it on the head till next month as i've no free weekends after this one.

It's a bank holiday week-end in England and Wales, so anywhere even slightly touristy will be rammed full, especially if the weather is nice.
Just looking at the weather forecast, there are some breaks in the weather in Dumfries and Galloway, Northumberland and north east Scotland. I think all things considered best to stay at home, or maybe go to the pub.

I'll be out Saturday if you fancy a early to late evening ride as there's no football on.

If it's dry I'll be aiming for 400 miles

Let me know what/where you fancy.

I'd have gone up North but not keen on learning how the Supercorsas cope in the rain.

That's the spot for me too. Left it a bit late for accommodation so have hired a motorhome! Sh?t that is an expensive game. If you see a little Yorkshire lad with his flat cap on the ground and his whippet on a piece of string laid on a blanket, please give generously.
