The Audace looks fantastic . . . just wondering about foot forward position. Can anybody comment on difference between normal and foot forward position ? Is it easy to adapt to and can you still enjoy spirited riding ?

Yes is the answer to both of your questions, easy to adapt and you can still chuck the bike about (if the bike is up to it). Similar to driving/riding a new car/bike - you might notice it for the first few miles but it becomes second nature pretty quickly. The only problems with forward controls and handling are where they pitch too much weight toward the back of the bike, particularly with a pillion but again you soon learn.

I have a Victory Hammer S so a similar riding position. You can press on but corners take a bit of planning and smooth riding. Very satisfying when you get you right. Spirited riding is possible although its all relative, my XJR1300, similar figures on paper is much quicker in the corners and not really considered a "handler"

Riding position seems very natural but takes a while to get used to. A) You're like a sail, B) most of your weight is through your seat not your wrists, legs etc so takes a wee while for you to harden into it

It does look good, but then so does Ducati's Diavel and Yamaha's Star Bolt in black (amongst others).

I'd like to see a little distinctive design changes

Yes to both, I have a Harley V-Rod which is a similar concept, its a long heavy bike, but when you get used to it, you can hustle along at a fair pace on the roads...certainly enough to use all the tyre and scrape the pegs smile

the Guzzi actually has replaceable plastic sliders on the footboards for when you scrape them through the twisties...

its a lovely bit of kit, certainly a great cruiser alternative to the established players

I think you'll have a hard time confusing the Guzzi (or the Diavel for that matter) with any other bike on the road!

Unless you know of another brand that has a V-twin mounted like that?

BTW, why is the diavel always mentioned in thread about cruiser? Have people actually ridden one and try to compare it to any "cruiser"? confused

Ive ridden a Diavel a couple of times, its not a cruiser in any shape or form except marketing terms ...its more more like riding a Superduke 1290 than a Guzzi, Victory, Harley etc

Exactly, I mentioned to my ("Ducatisti" rolleyes) friends I was doing testrides on the V7 and Triumph, they were ademant that the Diavel was a great alternative despite being twice the price, twice the horsepower and a completely different riding position.

A cruiser version of the diavel is coming in a few months isn't it?

yeah, this time its a traditional feet forward cruiser riding position and looks a bit more raked out. So it could be a higher power alternative to the usual offerings. Will be interesting to see what it ends up riding like...

The Audace doesn't really have forward controls. The cylinders are in the way.

hehe that reminds me of a test ride I had on a Harley, in a very similar position to that. Upon return I mentioned to the dealer I quite enjoyed the "feet forward" position, so he suggested I tried one with forward control... Christ, that will feel like one of these kiddy trikes with the pedals on the front hub!

Agreed the Guzzi is more upright armchair tourer position...

Dunno what really defines a cruiser bike anyway, but the majority of v-twin cruisers are feet forward

Whats interesting is the variation on a theme, and just how different they are. I think Harley have 5 semi official riding positions in their product range, then you can customise the fit to suit....I guess they do have to cater for extremes of rider size in their home market wink

I tried the Guzzi when it came out and was really impressed with it...ultimately I went with a V-Rod which ive been really pleased with. Now 4 years later the Guzzi Audace would be high up the list, also the Indian Scout
