I got a free gift so went for what I thought was a bumbag. I got the thing on the link below. If anyone has any idea what it is, other than a pretty feeble and cushioned cummerbund then let me know

They look really good. I might be interested in a set like that myself.

What's the general fit like for Alpinestars? Are they more suited to tall and slim or more square physiques?
Tall and slim is about right for the fit on Alpinestars. I'm not overly fat but have no chance of fastening the calf zips on them. They're all fairly similar apart from the challenger suit which seems to be better for a lot of people. You'll probably find it's baggy round the arse. The majority of people I've seen try Alpinestars have this problem and when I asked both our reps and one of their R&D guys none of them had an answer. Well apart from the bullst from one of the reps which was "because Lorenzo likes it like that"
Having now gone out and tried a few Alpinestars Challengers on, I found that the 42 was too small (like you, I couldn't do the calf zips up) and the 44, just a bit too wide across the shoulders for me, so in the event of a crash my shoulder would certainly not stay in the shoulder cup (which is partly what caused the huge damage to my old leathers in my recent crash). What I needed was a 43. rolleyes

Fortunately, the shop also had a set of Dainese Laguna Seca Evo P Estiva in a 44, which fitted perfectly around my torso, but the legs and arms were a little short. They were massively reduced in their sale and so I went for those and have taken them to a leathers alterations place who are lengthening the thighs and cuffs. All in all, I'm delighted with them.

When motocross was scrambling, even hard bds like Jeff Smith and Don Rickman wore kidney belts to keep their internal organs in place.

Suspension was a bit limited in those days. smile

Yes and a cork helmet with no mandible protection.

They really knew what they were doing in those days, not like now.

Kidney warmers all around.
