Recommendations based on experience please?
Just got these for my S1000r and the tyre centre just went with the standard 36/42 which is their default for pretty well every tyre.
There's nothing worse than taking tyre pressures off people who fit them for a living. I work in insuramce amd am a mechanical muppet, as well as being an anonymous bod on the Internet. Seriously though, do as said, ask the fitters or go on the Metz websites maybe?
36/42 is absolutely fine. Most manufacturers go with this as a default as it balances the heat generated vs road riding. It's a compromise and sometimes they won't be ideal. If you run it lower then you need to rode a lot do harder to get the pressures up and vice versa. Riding round with bugger all cold pressure because Tommy Bridewell does on his S1000RR on track is just plain daft. It won't stop people doing it though.

Aren't recommended tyre pressures set by the manufacturer for the bike, not the tyres? As per BMW it should be 36/42 for the S 1000 R. Why would fitting M7RR tyres make a difference over the DCs? Never occurred to me to change the pressure when I changed to the M7RRs...
Yes by bike, I just thought a fitter may have a chart or something with bikes on.LoonR1 said:

That worked really well in my RS4 when I went to check and they had put 32 all round. Go with 82 front, 12 rear

To be fair, the guy who put the latest set on the trumpet actually checked the book and asked if I was happy with that before handing it back.

Tyre construction varies between manufacturers and tyres which is why a bike manufacturers recommended pressures based on the OE tyres might not work when different tyres are fitted.Metzler don't give anything on their website that I could find either. In any case the correct pressure for any tyre will vary depending on bike weight, power and a number of other criteria hence asking for opinion based on experience of using these tyres.
I've got these on my R as well and only dropped them by a couple psi from standard (34F and 40R). They heat up fast enough and don't feel squishy to me, but feel a little more compliant.
Some talk about these tyres on the S1000R forum here:
