I insured with Devitt this year. I already had a policy running with them and one year's NCB in the bag. When I decided to buy a T595 Daytona I used Moneysupermarket.com to get comparison prices, Devitt was one of the cheapest there so I just took the code back to them over the phone and transferred my policy, paying the difference. It was £354 with legal, injury and pillion cover. MCE was less than £300 or so but I decided to give them a miss.

I used MCE despite their reputation as they quoted half of what the next broker did. This on an SV, which is very cheap to insure.

I made a non fault claim via them. You can tell what happened next. No, I didn't die instantly or catch rabies. They handled everything perfectly well.

It may well be different if it was a fault claim, but I have had no problems with them at all. Indeed, I have had minimal direct contact with MCE, it has all been via solicitors or the repair/hire company, so their (in)competence is less of an issue.

They have a reputation which may be deserved in specific cases, but my experience has been absolutely fine. Sure, their customer service people aren't great but that doesn't bother me considering the price.

It's worth the saving to me, I will use them until they are no longer stand-out cheapest.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Including this, if you like.

Congrats on the new bike.

Ed.

I was insured with mce but didn't have to claim.
I apparently filled out the rider/driver experience section out wrong but didn't find out until renewal.
It is just annoying that the guy in the call centre didn't notice when going through my details and congratulating me on passing my test 6 months earlier.
Don't think a claim would have gone well.
