I said nice garage, although I'll admit to being a bit dubious of it. I'll stand corrected on that.

I 100% stand by the fact that the tractor photos are bullst. I don't couldn't care less how many people claim their mate got done by it, or whatever. For example, I got flashed on the M25 yesterday. It was awesome, as I was inverted at the time.

Somebody needs to find some proof that this tractor exists. Nobody has shown any proof at all. There is nothing from any of the dozens of credible media sources and a Google search for "hide speed camera hundpberside" shows this thread amd the phot form Facebook amd nothing else.

If it's true, then I'll pay your mates speeding ticket. In fact if ten people provide incontrovertible proof of it, then I'll pay for them too. Incontrovertible proof is not "much mate got a speeding ticket yesterday from it"
That could be expensive.

Yeah, was on Visordown this morning too.

Bit strange why they're deciding to be all sneaky about it. Way to create a s***storm as I'm sure the Daily Fail with sensationalise this to hell and back...

I'm guessing they're pulling the speeders over down the road as I didn't think you could get a postal NIP with a hand-held? Correct me if wrong.

They have been targeting bikers in our area for a few years now, last year they walked into a bikers cafe private car park with a piece of card which mimicked a bike number plate and if any plate was smaller than that size they issued a fine. They aren't supposed to do that on private property but it didn't stop them. There was around 50 bikes fined. But who dares argue against the officers?

A similar thing happened at Rykas a couple of years back. I don't think any fines were issued, but they were trying to put the frighteners on people. But the way that they got their message over stank. It doesn't really muster respect

o/t That makes no sense - there is no minimum size for the plate itself. The requirement is that the characters are 64mm tall and 44mm wide (apart from 1 and I), with 10mm spacing and a 11mm border. So if you had a registration A8 then a plate 120mm wide and 86mm tall would be perfectly legal. It's always been legal to cut the plate size down so long as you leave an 11mm border and the characters are the correct size and properly spaced.

As I said before, the police in this area do what they want as most people will not contest it, they were fining people last month for not having e-marking on exhausts and for bald tyres when the tyres were worn but not illegal.

I contested a speeding fine 6months ago at court and won due to the police officer manipulating the video and me proving that he was lying and contradicting himself in his statements, even though I won , I got none of my costs back for lost time from work or expenses I had incurred.

The police think they are invincible in this area

Without trying to side with anyone.

Has there been a direct quote from apolice officer wker indicating that they done this.

Stories like these often snowball on social media. A paper picks it up then feeds it to its sister papers with little investigation and lazy journalism putting a slant on it to act as click bate.

More often than not a retraction will be posted weeks later on page 53 hidden somewhere.

All I can see is fuzzing around it, cherry picking and putting words in that weren't quoted.

Again I'm only looking this with a brain that reads things like this and never ever sees a direct quote matching the title.

There are quotes from Mark Hughes from the Humberside Traffic Police in the newspaper articles that have been linked to the thread. But the wording is not completely unambiguous. Enough wriggle room for Loon?

Well having just watched the Look North (Humberside / Lincolnshire) it looks like it's time for me to eat humble pie amd admit I was wrong. Based on what's been seen on there. They used the words "Humberside police have confirmed that they are using the tractor" or words to that effect. I'm intrigued though. I take it that one of lengster, or chillo are the "angry biker" who took the photos. It's done nut that needs this sledgehammer to crack it.

I find it completely bizarre that they're doing this though and still think there is huge mileage in asking the Chief Constable to justify the spend on the tractor. An FOI request asking about ex spend on that and the horse is should suitably embarrass them for a start, along with a request to your MP and maybe a few local farmers who have had plant stolen to have a discussion with him about priorities on spend.

Loon, nice to see you now realise we aren't Photoshopping or exaggerating , the police in this area are ridiculous and have become unhealthily obsessed against bikers, a friend of mine got stopped for no reason at all by a police officer last month and he got a bking for not lifting his visor.
It would be nice if all you non believers now can offer serious advice for how to move forward with this but only serious advice tho. 👍

Hope you enjoyed the humble pie Goon, I really enjoyed this thread! Thanks smile
Definitely worthy of a PH legendary thread entry biggrin
Shame you had to eat such a big piece of it eh? Maybe worth thinking about reining in a bit of the feeble keyboard warrior insults in future so you don't end up looking such a plonker! Just my 2p wink

I have a client who was caught at 79 mph on a 70 limit motorway by a speed-camera man in a tractor. Shall I send him your way? wink
