I think my nearest aprilia dealer is about 90 miles away. There use to be one in Norwich but that closed down a few years ago.
Where about are you Jack? There is an Ape dealer in Stowmarket. Their name is Mototechnics. I can highly recommend them.

Owned one 7/8 years ago. Was reliable, have a dealer based about 50 miles away.

Spares have also been crap direct from Italy, however if they're in stock in the UK you can get them quickly as they'll just move stock around for you. My local dealer is On Yer Bike Aylesbury, good bunch of guys, would own another for sure.

Thanks for the recommendation Dan. I met Simon & Luke today and took this bad boy out for a ride.

Why 'no cigar' Andy? I keep looking at these myself, in lieu of Triumph putting an engine from this century into the Speed Triple.

The engine is a peach but for me and what I'd use it for it's just too track focused. If it had electronically adjustable suspension linked to the riding modes that would go along way to making it more road friendly for us older folk. But as you're used to the harder ride (wobble) you would absolutely love it and as a "wrist resting tourer" I could see one in your stable.

I'm looking for something to replace my multi but unfortunately although I'd love a Touno for the shear good looks and grin factor it's not a replacement that I could live with.

Aprilia Caponord Rally?
Seat like a sofa, electronic suspension and a nice mellow 1200 V Twin.

Funny you should say that because I did have a good poke around one in the showroom and I quite liked it. I only walked away because it looked like all the other "Adventure Bikes".

If Aprilia crossed the Tuono Factory with the Caponord and the result was a sporty looking adventure type bike, a little like the Pikes Peak version of the Multi I'd be first in line with my wallet open.

There's also the Travelpack version.
Less ADV bias with cast wheels and no crash bars or aux lamps. Has luggage that is more upmarket but still with the electronic suspension, drive modes, cruise control etc.
Or have you seen the MV Agusta bikes?? . Very smart looking in a sporty way and not like a " Round the World" bike at all.

I'm still not feeling enough love. frown

Re the MV, CQ on here tested one back to back with the MS and below is his mail to me which I'm sure he won't mind me posting.

Yes, I took the MV out yesterday, pics attached.

Unfortunately it was not a patch on the Multistrada. It's a physically smaller bike so there was not as much room for me (I'm 6'4") and the seat slopes towards the tank so you keep sliding forward, squashing your balls on the tank. The tank is also quite wide pushing your legs out. The seat was quite hard and not big enough for me. I just did not have that instant feeling of comfort like I did on the Ducati.

Biggest disappointment though was the engine, it just could not compete with the 1198cc monster in the Ducati. It was buzzy and just lacked grunt, it sounded like you were thrashing it even at 4-5k rpm. It just wasn't much fun. The handling was good and it is lighter than the Multistrada but that's about it.

Shame as I really wanted to like this bike but it's not something I would spend £12k on. With the Ducati I felt I could jump on and ride it to the south of France, and every mile would be epic. Whereas I'd be fed up with the MV before I even get to the ferry!

PS Sorry OP for the hijack

Have you tried the 1290??

Personally think it's a cracking bike. Although VERY ADV surely going by your earlier comments??
But the little things like hill hold assist and cornering lights are nice touches.
Goes like stink with 160 ponies and very good electronic suspension.

Good to hear that about the Tuono Andy.

I quite like the new GS Triple black (non-adventure). I haven't tried one, but have heard that it'll run rings round my other bikes, especially if ridden by a copper.

Despite my thoughts, if they put a bigger engine in there (which is rumoured to be on the cards) then it would be a much better bike. I still love the way it looks and the handling was great. With an engine in the same league as the Multi, I would be prepared to sort the seat and ergonomic issues. But, aside from the BMW XR1000, there is not much to compete with the Ducati. It has to be worth a test ride on the new 1200S, just to see if it's significantly different to yours. They're even bringing a Pikes Peak version out next year....

Back on topic, I'm seriously considering an Aprilia RSV4 at the moment. I used to have a Aprilia RSV1000 Factory and never had an issue with parts. Reliability was 100% and servicing was considerably cheaper than the Ducati's I've had. I think all the Italian manufacturers have upped their game in recent years, parts supply and dealers are certainly not going to put me off buying one.

Your very welcome Andy!

They are good folks, in a genuine way. Shame the bike was too super-sports focused. Never ridden one but I they do look like a lot of fun.
