The GSXR looks amazing, what do you use to clean the engine/rear suspension?
Also for the front calipers did you use brake cleaner, I found on mine when I used brake cleaner I could not get all of the brake dust off.
I use gunk to start with,on the whole bike , fairings/under the mudguard, worked in with various brushes, then hosed off. Also for the front calipers did you use brake cleaner, I found on mine when I used brake cleaner I could not get all of the brake dust off.
For some areas, I use the small melamine sponges, at my previous company I sold these to contract cleaners, now you get hold of them in the shops , called "Magic Erasers", "Magic Sponges " etc
They work really well on bare alloy (my LC crankcases gleam after a wipe over with them) and even on some plastics, getting rid of boot scuffs from the rear side panels etc..but they are slightly abrasive so steady as you go, I look at them as a kind of T Cut without the residue and mess.
They bought my slightly grubby KR1 mirrors to as new.
You normally dampen them slightly with water but with a shot of carb cleaner /GT85 or similar , as long as it isnt seriously corroded, they'll bring bare alloy up to nigh on new, as you can see from the suspension linkages.
They don't last long on alloy , so get a pack if you want to give them a try.
My calipers are not brilliant either, I used a few toothbrushes and plenty of brake cleaner, maybe I should have tried a sponge on those too!
After that it was a wipe over with an oily rag to maintain them as best as they'll ever be mate.

I cleaned mine up over the weekend and found that the crusted-on brake dust wouldn't shift with brake cleaner alone. A stiff bristle brush helped, and some really tough bits just scratched it off with my nail wrapped in a rag doused in brake cleaner - did the job well enough before I got bored and moved on to something else! Also for the front callipers did you use brake cleaner, I found on mine when I used brake cleaner I could not get all of the brake dust off.
Thanks Podman! Looks like I'm off to Halfords at lunchtime to buy some 'Magic sponges' and brake cleaner. I'll try and get the bike to 'Podman' standards.

decide wether or not to take my r6 off the road. if i do then get some fairings and get them painted up and find a cheap ratter keep me occupied on the roads for abit or if not spend some money on the gsxr track bike. brembo master cylinder to replace the old unit then get it remapped to loose its stupid flat spot. Then decide and book either portimao or cartegena early next year.

Sort the suspension on my 125, Maxon rear shock built to my speech on its way soon then get the new fork stanchions fitted and some tube cut and fitted on top of the fork springs to make it stiffer.
