Stupid question - I have a integrated garage to the house which i store the bike in (door is locked shut), a couple of times now i have come home in the last two weeks to a smell of petrol. I've never had the smell before during my ownership and it is only recently that it is now stinking of petrol - when i mean stinking the whole downstairs stinks of it and it takes a couple of days to air out of the house - open windows and doors.

Filled the bike up the last time out (two weeks ago) so it is a full tank, and it is left on its side stand - Is it the tank possibly letting off pressure somehow? It appears sealed and happy and no visible leaks. I have placed a dust sheet over it and under it to see if it can capture any stains related to leakages.

It is either the bike.. or someone is pouring petrol through the letterbox - so far nothing on CCTV.

Apologies if this is a stupid question - i expect oil and petrol smells (pinto kit car ownership..) but not to this extent.. Properly stinks.

You shouldn't be able to smell any petrol mate. Check to see if the cap is on correctly and leaks etc.

Or are you just trying to promote ticket sales for Bonfire night ? biggrin

I'll wheel it out onto the drive way and start it at the weekend. I'll get the missus to film it.

Upside - missus gets youtube revenue and insurance payout.

Have you started putting the heating on? It is probably just vapour expanding and exiting through the breather tubes, especially as it's a full tank.

This. So a sheet over it won't help, the smell will be from the breather pipe underneath.

This, screwfix has some nice ones. Also if full petrol, put on centre stand.
