2. Do you really think Rossi, the racer, thought, "I know, I'll let him past and see if he can overtake Lorenzo too.
Is it really that hard to imagine that if Rossi's pitboard was telling him Dani was catching him at what, .7 a lap, that he knew fighting him was pointless and that if he let him past without a fight that he'd probably catch Jorge too?

Was Rossi catching Jorge at that point because if he was, and he knew how much quicker Dani was going, I'd say he may well have made that decision?
This is painful. He may well have done that, after all, it worked out so well when he let Pedrosa through at Aragon didn't it.rolleyes

I'd love to see Rossi take the title this year, it's the best chance he'll get by a long way. If he does win it, I don't expect to see him return next year. One final mind game would be to retire as champion and then nobody can claim to have beaten him in the end.

Dani beat Rossi by a tenth of a second at Aragon; the gap at Motegi was NINE seconds. It would've been fairly obvious to him fighting Dani would only have prolonged the inevitable whilst also increasing the risk.

DP is chronically underrated.

He's the fourth best rider in the world, and a safe pair of hands. He's been unlucky that there's always been someone able to just take it that step further whenever he's been on form. Much like Criville.

I really wish he would just do that. But I don't think it's going to happen. I was reading an interview of Livio Suppo the other day where he was talking candidly about lots of things. He then went on to explain an interesting conversation he had with VR earlier this year and where he asked him 'where do you get your motivation from?' to which VR replied 'Well, you are the one who works so you need motivations. I don't because I am just enjoying myself' (loosely translated from Italian).

So, as long as he is enjoying himself, I don't see him stopping. But that could mean the season-too-many. Unfortunately.

I'd like to think so, also probably confidence inspiring for him that Marquez is dominating as much and looks far less unbeatable.

Did you notice how Rossi changed his racing lines once Pedrosa had passed him. He followed Pedrosa through the wet parts of the track to prevent overheating the tyres - a bit late but it may have helped in the end closing Jorge down.
