Best heated grips?

I'm considering a new bike, and will want heated grips fitted as I ride all year round. Somebody posted a link or a picture to a set of grips a few months back, which had controls integrated into the grips and looked really good, unfortunately I can't find the thread again!

The OEM option is £145 so anything below that is fine, anything above has to be good.

Yamaha genuine grips on that look great, they're controlled through the clocks and would probably be fitted labour free by the supplying dealer.

If you get your bargaining hat on you might even get them chucked into the deal.

Yes that's the one, didn't realise it would be that obvious!
Sounds like I might have dismissed the oem option a bit hastily then, I'll see if I can see them on a bike somewhere. Are they worth the money though, that seems a lot?

It's about standard for oem, Honda's were 150 back in the day ( been a while since I've had a honda) my BMW ones were more (as is every option the gits). But oem ones tend to be easier to integrate. I've had oxford hotgrips in the past and they've not let me down.

I have R&G ones and although not intergrated the controls bit it really small and easy.

Same. For £30 (IIRC) they're very warm and easy to use. A "ride best buy" I think for this reason.

My left grip has started to wear after about 3,000 miles however. But that could just be me.

I have R&Gs and the left is much less effective - the right has the throttle tube as an insulator, left just seems to be warming the bar up instead.

Never let me down. Getting the original grips off and on again isn't easy but for the price worth the effort.

Get plenty hot enough on the high setting

The right heats up faster than the left, but both heat up sufficiently on mine. No notable difference once I'm moving.

Same on my OE honda ones.. heating metal on the left vs plastic throttle tube on the right.. once heated both deliver same performance. I can't run them maxed they just get too hot!

Best looking retrofit heated grips I've seen are the Honda ones - the switch illuminates and blinks the number of times the heat setting is at. Don't know if they will fit generic bikes, but I imagine there must be some compatibility.

They're what I've got. Very good.

I'm a big fan of Oxford sports grips. They aren't huge so feel normal to use, you always know what temperature they are at (a bit warm to burning) and they know when the bike is on/off so turn themselves off when the bike is switched off without having to wire them into the ignition. I've had about 5 or 6 pairs now and they have all been reliable.

And how do you filter in that? I have a car too, but it'll add at least an hour each way into town over the bike. It's all about gore-tex & layers when it gets cooler.
