Awesome build. Love a 2 stroke.
Can we have a video please?
Soon as I get back off holiday i will post one up! It does sound nice, but i did have to put some packing in the expansion boxes as it was so loud! Can we have a video please?
Looks like i will have to replace the CDI stator coil as its out of tollerance, and its hard to start. I have ordered one, should be there for when i get home....
Then its run it around for a while... And start the next project!
Progress has been slow for the last few weeks... I have been on holiday where i got the dreaded flu.... Its knocked me sideways! I did spend a couple of hours in the garage yesterday fitting the new ignition colils in the generator. It was harder to start than i liked, new coils fittted and it starts MUCH easier.
I have also been designing a folding footrest in my head, as its difficult to kick start with the solid one in the way...
Plus i would like to re design the side stand, as it has a tendancy to roll off it on anything other than level ground.... Anyoone eles find that? My V ROD side stand has a device to stop that so i may make somthing simmilar. Bike should be ready for the start of spring here....
Will post a few more pictures when i feel a bit better!

That looks really good - I'm often critisise some modern cafe racer builds but that is in proportion and in spirit of a proper cafe racer - also using a bike which was often used for racing when new (unlike basing it on a CX or Superdream).
I'm sure you could engineer a folding foot rest given what you've done already - my X7 had rearsets where the footrest & brake lever had to be folded up to kick start it.
The other option would be to look for a different shape kick start to clear the footrest, appreciate being on the left will narrow choice but then again, KTMs and many European 'crossers & trials bike have left hand kick starts.

The tinkering never stops eh?
End result looks fantastic, lovely job.
Absolutely right... its been said many times that this sort of build is never finished! Almost there now though and the plan is to run it for a few months and then start the next build, which will be a Ducati... Not sure when but I guess this one will eventually be for sale.End result looks fantastic, lovely job.

almost finished... the tank cover was a bit loose on the tank underneath, so I covered it in polythene sheet and used some cavity foam on the gap. (just a couple of blobs each side and a few on top) when dry I peeled the polythene off and it made it a nice snug fit.
MOT next week with a bit of luck!
That is a good looking bike sir. Mucho admiration on your skills and craftsmanship.MOT next week with a bit of luck!
Enjoy it.

Well it passed its MOT ok... Boy its uncomfortable though! I have had to adjust the rear sets as it was difficult to change gear as it was to low for my foot. I guess it was never going to be comfortable, I have another bike for comfort!
At the MOT station I noticed that one of the oil lines to the cylinder on the left was full of bubbles, which needed further investigation. Turns out the one way valve on that pipe was defective, the ball was wedged in the spring. easy to sort and all is well. No harm done as I had made sure I had mixed some 2 stroke oil in the fuel for an easy life in the first few miles.
It feels really light compared to my V-Rod! Its good to ride a 2 stroke again, takes me right back to my youth, the feel, the smoke, the smell and the sound!
