My all time favourite bike to have in my garage, I remember in 1989 at brands hatch in the pits and John surtees rode past me on one with his suit on. This and the owo1 I would love to have, how much was it? If you don't mind me asking, I'm always looking, for a used decent one that isn't mega money, most that come up for sale that I've seen are now over 20k
The mileage and FSH (inc. new clutch at 19,000 miles) was a reason I chose this one and I knew the previous owner who had basically just got too old to ride it. OK, I wasn't going to mention price, but I paid £18,000 for it.
The local lad who has a GSXR750 can't see the point of the RC as ''his bike will destroy mine for a fraction of the cost'' (his is a 2012) and he is right but I don't care!!!

Not from my home, it won't, but yes I suppose some low life could pinch it whilst I am out and about on it. But like the Ducati it's rarely out of sight and when it is, well, I just hope the alarm and tracker do their job.
I bought this from the proceeds of a one cylinder British bike with 34 bhp and the lights and brakes of a moped! I had about £8,000 left over too. The market is CRAZY for certain bikes.

Younger people (of which I include myself at 50) do not see the value of provenance and rarity, as they're usually looking for performance.

As something special to appreciate for what it was when new and to all intents and purposes still is, what's not to love. Comparisons with modern stuff are irrelevant.

'GSXR-boi' probably doesn't have enough self esteem to admit that inside he's just jealous of what you have, unlike me, I'm really pleased to see people with the means enjoying themselves on bikes like this. Still jealous though.

Now, how about showing us the rest of your collection (or the interesting stuff anyway, the single cyl stuff you can send via PM to srob!).

Being 23 I disagree, a lot of people might not see the appeal but to me one of these, an 888, an 0W01 and various others are all dream bikes will sadly probably stay as that.

I would let anyone kick me in the balls for a go on one of the above!

Niiice. Youngies probably wouldn't like twice at it. Like I wouldn't look twice at some Norton or whatever from the seventies!

cloud9 absolutely brilliant OP. To me they're the best looking bike ever built, combined with the V4 bark (I know you can find that cheaper, but) the combination is perfect.

I don't yet ride, but have dreamt of an RC30 for 28 years.

Lovely looking bike I would have one in my dream garage. I remember when they first came out Matt Oxley did a magazine test on an RC30 vs a GSXR750 slingshot.
He said that the RC30 would be wasted on the general public as it was to advanced. How times change.

350 Gold Star maybe? They seem to be fetching insane amounts of money.

Think it'd have to be a 500 Goldie for that power, but I don't think they're into the £20k's yet?!

Velocette Thruxton is my guess smile

cannot hold it flat stick on a fast track without it running out of oil (needs the deep sump which needs a full aftermarket exhaust)
That's a strange comment as I was always under the impression these where ready to race straight out of the box so to speak !

A BSA Gold Star, 1957, just my dad as the only owner from new. Standard, with 2 light restorations done. 98% original.
It had the correct RRT2 gearbox and Amal GP carb, etc.

It's in bed, nice and warm today and will only venture out when the sun shines, I admit it! But then I am a fair weather rider these days in truth, my times of doing hundreds of miles on a bike in howling rain and gales stopped about 5 years ago. So, I am a part-timer! But at least I admit it!

I'd have kept the BSA, but then I'm like that.

I did, for 20 years after dad died, but it was time to cash in. Circa £26,000 for an ancient old one cylinder was too good to turn down.
