Arai RX7-V - What a mess
Discussion
Hmm, I do wear ear plugs and tbh the wind noise in my Arai isn't uncomfortable - without ear plugs it's deafening over 30/40mph though. I ride a completely naked bike so have zero wind protection.
So actually wind noise isn't a big issue, I've done 12 hour, 400 mile days on the bike and not noticed wind noise, the lightness and huge visor area are still great for touring.

I like these -- very good noise rejection, and comfortable. But only one day per set (a couple of insertions) before they dont spring to shape properly

Ear plugs - I recently went for custom ones with Ultimateears. Not looked back, better than foam.
You can never block out all noise because part of your hearing is through your bones. Different people with different bone densities etc. will hear at different levels so earplugs have varying effects.
Custom plugs do however make sure that everything you hear is at safe levels, so wind noise becomes a hygiene factor.

Interesting reading. I decided after my CBT that I will never put on a training school helmet again (the stench), so I bought a Shark S600, not expensive, added the pinlock visor and did me good. Roll on and I pass my MOD 1/2, put a deposit down for a bike, while collecting I try on different lids and out of the Shoei's and Arai's, the best fit was the Arai.
My wife treated me to the QV Pro(god, she's great), with the shaded visor. It's perfect, does not feel like you're wearing one, the external visor is cool and works pretty well, but you can remove it a couple of seconds if you don't need it.
As for the Pinlock shenanigans , no problem for me, I inserted mine and does not take long to do. Granted, the Shark visor removal is a lot simpler, but the Arai's isn't hard.
As for fit, the Shark does squeeze my face and after a while you do feel it, but other than that it is a solid , The Arai though is a different feel, much better, softer and lighter. The other factor is shell size, the Shark is a lot bigger for the medium than the Arai, so the Arai looks better. Mine is box red btw. The Shark goes out in ultra st weather now, the Arai in all else.

I've wanted a Freddie Spencer Replica for years but could never get the XL (62) on as it seemed too tight, and Arai never released any larger sizes, so over the years I'd look whistfully at them. But chalked it up as one of those things.
Anyway I was in J&S in Manchester and happened to mention my disappointment, they measured my head and said I was an XL (62) so they grabbed a standard RX7-V and explained that they're very tight to get on, so I gave it a proper go and amazingly it went on and is amazingly comfortable and very quiet, I'm not a fan of the visor locking system and might modify the visor so it doesn't lock.
