I did a similar trip last year.

You don't need to camp, you can stay very cheaply at campsites that have cabins for rent. They are everywhere!

It's a wonderful place, make sure you spend plenty of time around the fjords, Prestoken etc.

Another thing I'll tell you that effected me is that Norwegian are very sensitive and protective of peace and quiet, they do not appreciate loud motorcycle exhausts, in the slightest - I must have been chastised at least 3 times a day at every petrol station, eatery and campsite because my motorcycle was too noisy (it wasn't) I was even shouted at for the bleep the alarm made when disarming.
WTF..?
I've been living here for close to two decades; Ducatis with straight through Termis, and in all that time, only once have I ever had anything even approaching what you are talking about - as I started up the bike an old lady walking past covered her ears and gave me a couple of glances... Other than that nothing, nada, un cogno... And my motorcycles are noisy, very noisy...

Maybe it's a bike thing, even folks who don't know fk all about bikes like Ducatis tongue out
Last Jap 4 I had was in 1995, and that was back in the uk so I can't pass comment on the attraction they generate...

Yeah maybe, it was also on Danish plates.

Also the mist of time passed and internet show offery may have meant I've exaggerated how often it happened - but it was definitely more than twice!

I've read a couple of Jo Nesbo books of late, I'd really like to go back to Norway and live there for a while, the people are so nice (looking) and if his books are anything to go by the city suburbs are really packed with excitement.

I've replied to your mail, but forgot to add how useful a side stand puck can be. But make sure it's in your jacket/a pocket you can get to, not tucked away in your bike's luggage...

Mosi-guard is a vey effective mosi repellant, I used it for years in West Africa.

2015 done in 14 days, although I find the top speed of 346mph a little suspect officer!
Done over midsummer, I hadn't realised they take that so seriously, some towns were entirely closed for the purpose of partying hard in some nearby field.

My list would be what Steve Bass said on the first page except I use a 2 man tent and a self inflating matress. Also get some puncture seal tape for tents and bed mats. I had an unidentified 'thing' eat through my tent and into my bed mat one night!

Don't worry about the doom-mongers, you'll be fine.

Now that is the trip I wanted to do! Except there would be another 1400 miles to do the return trip to Aberdeen. I just don't have time. You must have been covering some major distances to do that lot in two weeks?

That looks epic, damn good work. It's the sort of trip I want to do one day.

Best repellent I´ve found is Autan. Smells pretty god too...

I'm in Stavanger, near Badedammen. The GJ MC were the Gypsy MC until they were found running a protection racket with local businesses and then they got raided - very entertaining!

I lived in Sandnes for many years, used to go up to the bridge by Kvadritt and watch the mayday run go past below - quite a spectacle smile
Working in Olso now, living in Drammen... Infinitely superior climate here, I´ve had enough rain for 10 lives..

Well that's me back from Norway. Ended up camping three nights out of 14 because it was too bright to sleep...

I've written up a trip report thing here with loads of photos.
http://www.leportphotographic.co.uk/blog

To sum it up
3700 miles
No police interaction
A bloody fortune

I'd go again tomorrow.

Great write up. Long old days though - not my idea of fun.
