Metzeler Need YOU!!!
Discussion
Tyre company Metzeler have given PistonHeads three sets of their brand new Sports Touring Metzeler Roadtec 01 tyres to give away for evaluation by our users.
We’re looking for three UK based riders who do good/high mileage, want to share their experiences on PistonHeads AND crucially are in need of tyres… right now!
We and Metzeler will pick three lucky evaluators and the tyre guys will send you some product info so you know the full SP on this new rubber.
So tell us in short why we should pick you……..

Because I am a die-hard Michelin Pilot Road buyer. I've done 20,000 miles on them and will keep buying them regardless of bike they've been that good.
I will be junking the OE "I'm an adventure bike, honest" tyres from my Crossrunner ASAP.
I do 8-10,000 miles commuting in all weathers.

I'm a 12 month of the year rider with over 30 years experience and a former DSA instructor. I have owned roughly fifty bikes from 70's mopeds to cutting edge sportsbikes and have ridden many more, at one stage covering approximately 25,000 miles per year on two wheels.
I have taken advanced training in bike, car and fire-engine though have to admit that nothing is quite as good for teaching you machine control as following your GSXR mounted mate down a twisty coast-road on a CX500 with leaky shocks and Cheng-Shin tyres...
I ride real roads in the real world, fast when I can, safe always having seen the end results of far too many crashes over the years.
I have ridden on many brands of tyre, from high-end sports rubber to cheap-as-chips moulded plasticine and have no brand snobbery; if a tyre works for me and let's me feel confident on the bike it has done its job well.
I can communicate well, describing what I feel on the bike in accurate, no-nonsense terms, but can also convey the feelings and emotions that riding brings.
I have a strong work ethic, but also value my rest, relaxation and family time.
Riding a bike gives me time to think, time to relax, time to be me.
Non-smoker, solvent, good sense of humour, all my own teeth...

I ride 26,000+ miles a year.
I ride all year, in all conditions, on my 120 mile a day commute. Covering all types of road from country lanes one end, motorway in the middle and central London at the other end.
I ride an FJR1300. I've tried various makes and patterns of tyres, as you can imagine I go through them quite quickly. I'm yet to find the 'perfect' tyre although the latest Pilot Road GT comes pretty close.
I'd love to put myself forward to test these tyres.
Many thanks
Tim

Just to be different and show their versatility pick me!
I do about 5,000 miles a year only in the dry and if not on a trackday, progressive road riding in the Pyrenees or around Norfolk coast roads.
People would always associate sports touring tyres to be fitted to your K1300S, ZZR1400, VFR1200F, FJR etc etc. What about a GSXR750 which would show that they can deal with the extremes of a trackday several times a year as well as being spanked around some twisty roads?

Another all weather commuter racking up 10-15k a year in addition to track days (at least 5 on pilot roads last year in a variety of weathers). Can I claim poor student as well? Have used pilot roads from 2-4 and would be interested if metzeler can do a tyre which meets and surpasses Michelin as I currently wouldn't buy anything else. Currently using the Michelins on a naked 600 and a 1000 super sport and also am a younger rider so represent a small part of the market who may opt for longer tyre life to save funds while still wanting a compromise of sporty handling and wet grip.

A new set of tyres would certainly give me an excuse to get the bike back on the road sooner this year for my fair-weather commute. Yes I admit that I'm too soft to use the bike through the past winter we've had with flooded roads, gale force winds and I'm snowed in today.
I don't have a brand alliance but would always read reviews of others experiences and I'd be more than happy to give a review of any product I used. I'll even try hard not to leave chicken stripes as my commute is nearly 20 miles of b roads and some city riding.
