I wonder what happens if they can prove it was a tyre failure and nothing off the bike damaging the tyre.. could they claim damages off Michelin considering how expensive the bikes are now?

Why does anyone care about Stoner ? He is as relevant to this years MotoGP as John Terry is to next seasons Chelsea campaign !!!!!
Because I am a fan of bike racing, I don't give a hoot who wins the series anymore, I want to be entertained so another seriously quick guy is more than welcome.
I don't watch the build up and turn off when the flag drops so don't give a fk if they have two heads or no personality.

This year I want to enjoy the racing, all the handbags and bh slapping can piss right off.

There, that reason enough for you?
But he's not racing, so what is his relevance, I point you back to my statement !

No, honestly, enlighten me ? I get he is a fantastic rider but surely he either needs to take a sh** or get off the pot. He is a sideshow at best, a pointless one.
Stoner ?
He is a double MotoGP champion !

Sideshow ?
rolleyes
Yes, anyone that isn't on the starting grid is a sideshow .... nothing more ...... and like I said, I get he is a fantastic rider, but he IS NOT a MotoGP Racer currently, he is an ambassador .....

Re: Baz's tyre, quote from Crashnet testing:
"To confirm Loris Baz is unhurt. Walking in paddock. Sounds like engine or gearbox problem. Rear locked up on home straight. So not tyre failure."

Ah, I get ya.
Also a tester, and the way Ducati have used Pirro I wouldn't bet against Stoner getting a few wildcard races.

Some reports are claiming the rear shock collapsed

If Stoner doesn't end up racing at PI, I'll eat my own shoes.

Note dibble used the word currently.

If stoner ends up racing this year it will be rossi's last season.

Aah, I just thought he had a wildcard ride.
fk it then, I agree that there's no point.

Ah, ok didn't see that. Would have thought had the rear locked up as initially claimed there would be some evidence of that on the tyre and the track.
Thanks.

You would hope not. This is racing, where things get tested and fingernails occasionally chipped.

I also thought he had a few wildcard races this year and i'm hoping after a decent testing he decides he'd quite fancy doing another season.

Looking at this shot again, your eyes are obviously drawn to the huge opened up flap at the back but I could easily be convinced that was done post (or mid) crash. Tyres have fibres running in more than one direction so when they fly apart the edges of the failure would show fraying as the fibres have literally been pulled apart. That looks like a neat cut - possibly made by the squashed piece of exhaust top left of piccie.

I'm not suggesting the tyre didn't cause the crash though (just maybe not at that 'split' part) and the fact you can actually see the top weave of the fibres describing that 45 degree pattern on the surface of the tyre I find odd / worrying.
