Very minor update...
I have to por15 the tank, but i'm doing a minor cleanup to see what i've got. Destickered left side and it came up reasonable, but right hand side has a sizeable dent in it and a large chip (i'll touch that in).
Top surface has bloomed badly due to filler cap leak, but i'll g3 it when i refit the tank.
Oh and it now has a name (due to the fuel fumes): "Stinky".

This is the sort of thing I really enjoy watching come together - even if you do end up wishing you'd junked it in the end!
I'm sure the market for it when you're done will actually be quite big as you're improving on the original? Out of interest, what is the powerplant a copy of? More importantly is the head aluminium and can you use chemistry to remove the bolts...?

Tom, i heated the bolts up and hammered them flat on the ends so my puller could bite them, got them out now cheers
Managed to fit in a bit round working on the car today.
Got all broken exhaust studs out.
Cleaned tank up a bit, but won a learnerlegal 125 tank for 15 quid so might end up using that instead (more caff shaped).
Pulled out all the airbox and battery guts, think this is how i'll be going with it. Even took off rear plastic mudguard insert, it'll never get used in the rain anyway.
Pulled forks through a little more and took orange lenses off indis to test for colour scheme by eye. Thought i'd prefer the retro nature of the orange, but it's cleaner without so i'll be taking them off properly. Starting to see the bike emerge that i want it to be.
Oh and bolted up the engine mount bolts, for some reason they were loose. Anyway, pics...

My Learnerlegal tank just turned up. Bit of frame modding needed at weekend, it will be about an inch and a half further forward and half an inch higher overall but the line is spot on. Paint is pretty much perfect but decals are lacquered in, so it's probably going to end up bare metal (shame, i don't mind the colour).
The bone line is now more correct for a caff. It was fifteen quid, delivered:

Found this SS50 style sports moped on eBay the other day. The exhaust is wrong for an SS50 but it looks pretty good I reckon and cheap as chips, (though probably similar longevity to a chip).
