Evening all,

Just looking for some advice, someone has asked for a birthday gift of an helmet camera, or a camera which is mountable to a motorbike frame.

Not wanting to spend mega bucks, was thinking basic GoPro or similar, but I know that a GoPro isn't an optimal shape for motorcycles.

As this is BB, the bike in question is a 14 plate Yamaha Fazer. thumbup

Got given a Garmin Virb as a present a couple of weeks ago and it looks good with some great reviews. I'm due to pop it's cherry at a trackday in a month's time so will let you know how I get on.

There are way better cams £ vs Quality, than GooPoor
Innoiv C3 ; BulletHD; or even idiot proof Mobius

Drift stealth hd are cheap and have rotational lenses ao can be mounted easily anywhere.
I set mine to record everything I do, but not to save to the sd card.
If I am in an accident I press the button and it "remembers" the last 10 minutes that it would have otherwise forgotten, and the next 10 minutes.

Handy, because I dont want "all" of my riding on camera, just incase I self incriminate.
They are bit dear still

Matt the TechMoan and his video-Reviews are priceless to starter

SJCam M10+ (with unbelievably good Gyro (also in his reviews) good option too wink

I've got a GoPro Session. I've been using it for about a month - so far, so good. Much smaller than the Heroes, battery life seems to be around 90 minutes to 2 hours.

If you are ever heading to the United States, you can buy a Drift Stealth for under $100.

I used to have a Roadhawk Ride.... small, unobtrusive. Unf I just think it is a bit st. Will often switch itself off for no reason, I have trouble with formatting the memory card etc etc.

Does it fit in a standard Hero Enclosure?

This might be ideal if it does as it opens up all the optional mounts ect.

So Ive been looking to buy the Drift Stealth as Im going to USA on Sunday for 3 weeks. But I can`t find out if it records and overwrites itself in a loop or fills the card up then stops.
My car dash cam does and I find it usefull as I just leave it running. Does anyone have know if the drift does this.

Github Git2 does fit in gopro cases and seems to be getting really good reviews.

using code gitup2 brings it down to 75 quid.

Yes - will do, because I am Mr Technogagdet. I'll be impressed if I can even turn it on.

Cheers...
Have to say that the Virb is a cracking camera with some nice touches.
What is really needed is a combination of the Virb with its big ON button and GPS thingy, the Drift with its rotating lens and the go pro with its mounting options. Surely not too much to ask for??
Watch out for the mounts on the Virb though, I found they can vibrate the camera something terrible, but they have go pro mount adapters so do open up a lot of possibilities. .

Mate crashed with a helmet cam recently, and the twisting force of the camera catching the ground nearly broke his neck.
I know they're designed to break off, but even so, I'd not risk it personally

What I'd like is a sensible/reasonably-priced small (bullet?) cam which I can mount under the headlight/fairing, fit & forget, until such time I need it. I don't want to keep removing it (so it needs to be very discreet), I don't want to draw attention to myself (so it needs to be very discreet), I don't want to keep turning it on & off, or maintaining it. Any suggestions?

You can download the manual online. I've read the manual and my reading is it does do this.

Bullet BikerHD (two parts) or harder to get Innoiv C3 (two part again and if you get one(stopped manufacturing)- lot cheaper)
(TechMoan covered many*most) of them), but newly proficiently developing GYRO function made me think of getting M10+ with waterproof case, just for the case of nice ride and footage worth saving wink
