Breathe and relax.

Just thank your stars you're not a cretin like them and move along.
Your annoyance will last a moment, their stupidity will last a lifetime

As long as you're one of the few l-plated riders understanding their place in the biking food chain, is observant and doesn't ride in an incompetent oblivious dam right disrespectful manor towards other bikers you'll be perfectly fine. smile
I will show courtesy and compassion/respect towards all riders if its equally shown/exhibited back. Sadly with many L plated riders on small bikes or scooters that is not the case. Unwritten rules of not pulling past others bikers at lights - waiting your turn basically, cutting them or others up, not moving over when you're clearly not making as speedy progress.

Got admit I sympathize having ridden in London a few times myself, it's not something I would look forward to daily.

I don't really have any issues with bikers on my commute from Bolton to Liverpool, other than the occasional hold up by a biker who hasn't seen me or heard me. Saying that those bikers with poor awareness do not tend to last long on my commute, neither do those filtering a little too quickly. It was only last week I had a chap come past me a little close on a Hayabusa with a passenger filtering through one of the 'danger' zones as little too fast where I deliberately drop my speed. The same chap whose bike looks a little bashed up and is now missing it's passenger...

Car drivers however can be another story. Usually the type that feel indicating but not looking is enough to move into the lane you are already in ... don't mind too much if there is a gap, but having to take avoidance action really pisses me off. Usually only a select few mind.

It just sounds like you are having a bad week. Is work being difficult / stressful at all? I find that can have an effect on how I think about others on the road when I'm under stress or pressure at work.

OPs a bit long winded so I haven't read it all, but I suspect that I had a similar experience with another biker on what I think was a 999 yesterday just before 5 crossing Hyde Park. Wouldn't filter right to the front and slowed right down for the bends. Didn't get cross with him, but was surprised at the how he/she rode given the bike, well worn leathers and dry conditions.

Edit: another gripe is scooter riders who don't bother with life savers when I'm looking to overtake. Pillocks.

I quite like the commute into town. I come in quite early (i.e. before 7) and I think it's a good laugh zooming around when there aren't so many cars about. You can't be worrying yourself about all the other dicks on the road though, just let it go and carry on about your day, stress can ruin your day.

If you're getting fed up with it all though, I'm sure a stint on public transport will have you desperate to get back on the bike.

My assistant is on a first aid course until tomorrow. I would normally take it out on that thick

Of course, don't see too many others anyway - at the desk for 6:30 with 13+ hour days sees to that! - rarely even traffic on the Old Kent Road (there) or Jamacia Road (back) either!

Only biggest negative atm is the fact they've decided to put a solid bordered cycle lane on the northern side of London Bridge, makes what little traffic there is there impassable - will be better come the summer, hotter and with more power between my legs post-test!

Good to see you're making good use of your time.

As for cost, is £230 per month on the train, or £35 on fuel. Not including insurance/tax as would fork out on that anyway.

The above was just a broad average for being at my desk...worst was a 95 hour week now that was bad half way through, despite it being -5 and 3am I nearly fell asleep on the bike having started work over 20 hours before on one of the days.

Day to day its not too much bother, with the start time and 15 min walk to a (slow) train station the bike is a necessity. It halves my journey time from Petts Wood/Orpington...well, that and the fact that with my start time and the fact I could finish anywhere between 5:30pm and 3am the trains don't work well then!

Needless to say the job's worth it really, am mid-20's, travel well and have my own place (mortgaged obviously) and hope to pick up a toy in coming months, pay is never enough though, especially after the tax man has taken his share!

That's not much of an incentive for him to wade in with his newly learnt kiss of life skills if ever you need them...

You should work contract mate. Permanent staff doesn't give you enough cash.

I'm disappointed at the lack of amusing anecdotes involving scooters and parking. Have the scooterists starting parking in a reasonable manner, or do you just not want to admit setting fire to numerous scooters on a public forum?
