I was at this last night and witnessed this. I still have absolutely no idea what they were trying to do.

A back flip with 4 people on a bike, with members of the audience on the bike? confused

Thought they were just running up the ramp but nowhere near enough speed with that many people on.

They claimed they were going to do a back flip. Right away i thought that would be impossible and it ended up they never even made it up the ramp!

They've pulled this off before so clearly just went badly wrong this time. Hope the injuries aren't too serious.

According to the BBC there were no audience members. Stunt people only.

I remember watching the massive steel pulley fall during a circus act smashing into someone. They dragged him off and then the clown came out until the next act/ambulance.

Now that was showmanship.

Where are you reading that? I was there, there was at least one volunteer from the crowd and the BBC headline reads 'Two audience members have been injured after a motorbike stunt went wrong at the SSE Hydro arena in Glasgow.'

I cannot imagine trying to do this stunt with untrained audience members. As usual, it looks as though the media have got it all back to front.

'The three passengers had been thought to be audience members but the BBC understands they were part of the act.'

no way in hell they'd just pull 3 people out of audience to do a 4 man backflip.

Yes it's quite common to pretend to be audience member. Again just like the real circus.

Firstly the headline is "Stuntmen hurt", the article then says "The three passengers had been thought to be audience members but the BBC understands they were part of the act."

3/4 paragraph in the article you posted.

Umm, no it isn't.

The context of the article has been edited since i first posted and does now say 'but the BBC understands they were part of the act.'

Oooh dear. Quite a drop.

I'm going to see them at O2 this Sunday. Tickets are stupidly expensive, but looks a good laugh. I guess they won't be trying that trick again...

The daily record must not have got the update then...

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/fa...

The official release from nitro circus makes no mention of stuntmen.

I'm not sure who is correct, but I know the BBC have a better reputation than the Daily Record. I also believe that getting members of audience at random for something like this would seem rather foolish. Especially in Glasgow.

Best way would be to wait a while. If you don't hear about Nitro Circus being sued for every penny they have, then you can bet they were stunt men.

Surely they would have to sign disclaimers before doing the trick?

They did it when I went to watch it a couple of years back. If you volunteered you got a free set of MX kit so not a bad incentive

I'm going too, booked tickets last year and still winced at the price, no idea what they're going for now.
