There is a community speed watch in the village whom I like to see out. I'm all for a little excess speed in the right context but villages, just no.
I agree about speeding through villages - a definite no-no. However, I absolutely detest the community speed watch thing. I suppose its something to do with the 'do gooder' types that I just can't stand. Not sure what the statistics are, but do they actually do any good??? I rode past one of their speed guns the other day, at exactly 30, & dropped a couple of cogs. I was comprehensively scowled at for what I can only assume was considered revving too much, even though I have a VERY quiet bike with OE exhaust system rolleyes
Back to topic: returning home today, I took advantage of the nice sunny weather, & went back the scenic route. There is a narrow bridge involved on the route, with one-directional give way signs. Sadly, muggins forgot which direction was the give-way, & nearly had a head-on with an innocent red Nissan. I had just enough time to gesticulate 'you are #1' before realising my error. getmecoat So apologies to the middle-aged blonde lady driver....

All hail road Captain Fleegle!

You could get a whistle too, it'd compliment a flip front helmet very nicely.

My somewhat lame highlight for the day; a prick on a motorcycle coming up my inside, whilst I was waiting for a chance to over take big vehicles, then wonder accross in front of me without a shoulder check. Prick. If you're going to do this, you need to be quick and time it properly, not something you can do if moving from the left unsighted.

I'd rather wear an orange peel than a whankey flip front. The helmet for helmets

There must be some sort of epidemic effecting cyclists as I saw one this morning doing a very clear hand signal before turning right.
Obviously not the muppets I saw at Box Hill yesterday - they think they own the fking place rolleyes

Commuting highlights: fog eek Oh, & a white van flashed me to let me turn right at a busy traffic light controlled cross roads - he MUST have been a biker himself!
I once got waved to stop by a police cyclist at the top, close to the NT cafe. I pulled over on my WR450 and took off my goggles and asked what the problem was. He claimed I was speeding. How the fk he knew without any equipment god only knows, but maybe it was more to do with the cycling event that was one that didn't warrant road closures.

I questioned how he knew what speed I was doing and he started to change tact to the dangers of riding to close to cyclists. I asked him if I did that as I knew I had given them loads of space.

Needless to say I was told to be on my way and to drive with care.

Even the cop cyclists are assholes
TACK, as in sailing. You can't change tact, you don't have any to change! (we're alike in so many ways)

I must wipe my memory as soon as I park...in other news, our office block is being demolished and replaced over the next 5 years

"No definitive timescale has been given, but it looks likely that, given planning consent being granted, part of the car parking area would be required to start works within the next 9 months; the first building being completed within 2 years..."

We currently have pretty secure motorcycle parking in the far corner of the site, furthest from pedestrian access and overlooked by decent quality cameras which the guards watch like hawks. What's the odds this is the "part of the car park area" they'll be screwing with.

2 separate incidents of women `racing' me.

1st was in an older Passat with 2 child seats in the back, one of which being occupied by someone who I can only assume was about 11 - years old??

2nd was in a Hyundai IX20, again with kids in the back.

On both occasions I only realised that I was in a race when I saw the kid in the back of the Passat constantly turning around to look at me. I assume there was some internal conversation going on in the car about the bike behind??
And the IX20 when the driver was keeping a beady eye on me in the rear view mirror, and keeping as close to the white line as possible in order to keep me behind them I assume??

For the record I won both `races' Traffic lights on red and a queue of traffic meant that I got past the backmarkers a lot easier than they did.

If you couldn't win against a Passat or IX20, (driven by women paperbag), I would've considered your riding total pants!! My theory is that many of these drivers think all bikes are probably plod, so stare into the mirrors as a way of pretending to know what the last speed limit sign actually indicated....

Agree with you 100% there.

Maybe it wasn't clear in my post? But the only people involved in the actual `race' were the drivers themselves.
I was just making my way in to work enjoying the reasonably pleasant morning we had here today. And work is not a place I rush to get in too each day.

First weekday commute into the City for a long while.

Highlight today was a GS wker (without side luggage at least) holding up 5 bikes by filtering on the A20 at 18mph where you can move at 30. No options to get around him - he knew we were there, but did he move in and let other bikes through? Did he fk.

There's a guy on my commute (Southbound M6 11 to 6) who just sits in traffic on his VTR Firestorm...I don't get it.

Are GSes so prevalent on this thread because there are lots of them; because we notice them more; or because total wkers are over represented in GS ownership?

Mind you, yesterday's commute home GSA-man was a good rider, had a quick chat at the lights and did a great job in the traffic with a pillion (who looked in good shape, as an aside). This morning's GSA man was a flip-top fk-face resplendent in his POLITE vest and with FOUR, yes FOUR extra LED lights tacked to the front, all ablaze in an obvious and partially successful attempt to burn everyone's retinas out, as we filtered into Wandsworth. tt.

Some bikers just seem to not like filtering, I see it a lot on the M3.

It was the only GS out of about 25 bikes and scooters I must have caught up and passed on the commute. The only other person to hold anyone up was a DL650 Strom adventure thing, but he clocked and pulled in after 30 seconds to let people by.

Highlight was theading the needle, filtering in moving traffic inside the Blackwall tunnel following an epic filterereererer on a CBR600F4i. There were several 'deep breath' moments. I'm glad I don't commute into the City any more as I really can't help deciding to keep up with nutters and riding like a tt. Saying that - I'm not the fastest filtereerer I've met on this forum smile

What are you commuting on 3DP? You're on my daily route.

Mind you, I don't filter inside the tunnel. I'm far from "holier than thou" but they periodically broadcast warnings about crossing the solid line(s) and I'm fairly sure they could nab you on CCTV. That aside, how some bikers don't get clipped in there I'll never know!

Just started commuting again on the GS after a year off. A bit rusty, but it feels great to cut the commute back down to 35mins, not the 1hr20 on TFL smile Not sure if it was just luck of the draw, but there seem to be about twice as many trucks/Luton-sized vans on the roads than a year ago!

Sssshhh, don't tell anyone, but there was this pesky white Blade who kept pulling wheelies behind me, and I just thought "I'm just gonna sit here" hehe
