That’s ok, I took one for the team… even managed to get into trouble off a L plated 125cc for ‘riding too fast in the rain’ and being ‘a maniac’…

hehe
I jinxed it ... may as well have bloody swam home today with the standing water and it continuing to chuck it down the whole way home - gear over the dehumidifier in the bathroom with the heating on ... fingers crossed it dries out a little before I need to sling it all on again at 0400

Nice easy day today with little drama... did shout out highway code 129 a few times though (to myself).. these bloody roadworks are taking forever and some days the f**kwits are more dangerous than others trying to cut me off..

For every 1 tw@t there are more decent people just moving over slightly to make things easier though... still dry, looking forward to my ride home.

My first day back commuting on the bike after being off with full blown man flu for the last couple of weeks, bit foggy!

As a daily commuter I'm always surprised how rusty one gets for the commute battle after even a short holiday. Takes a while to get back in the swing.

Got an intermittent vibe/rattle from somewhere on the CBF500. Ended up doing a 30 mile "commute" home rather than the normal 5 or 6 to try and work out where it's coming from. Had it on a stand with the tank off and it's all but disappeared now...... Also backed off the preload and damping a reasonable amount and it's oddly turning in much easier even with the slightly squared off rear.

It certainly does, felt like Bambi, probably not 100% but couldn't face public transport.

Seem to be in a commuting zone, generally got the commute into work (S Croydon - City) down to 35 minutes or so.

Only issue is I've got reduced braking performance and a little vibration in the front brakes, sense it needs another set of pads....3k mikes after the last. Guess that's part of the game with all-urban riding, regular red lights/speed cameras which require a lot of brake and a far fk sat on the bike. Need to get the bike booked in to get that sorted but fear we'll have to give the back brake a work out in the interim.

Did a short day in the office today so got to ride into London and Home in daylight for a change which was quite nice! What wasn't nice was the multiple spots of traffic crawling on the A2/M2 just because people wanted to rubber neck at accidents! Oh and you can definitely tell the 'fair weathers' are starting to get out and about again - lots of chaps making poor attempts at filtering and just generally getting in the way and slowing the whole show down frown

Surprisingly pleasant ride in to work yesterday in the sunshine in the morning - it's amazing what a bit of sunlight does to one's mood. Did notice however yet another lane has been lost to roadworks again, this time on the Great West Road before the Hammersmith Flyover (going East) IIRC, which will no doubt snarl everything up round that way for a while.

Had the calipers off the C400 in the garage this morning to try and get rid of the annoying squeak they had developed. Seems like spraying WD40 on the pads has worked so far... tongue out

Does anyone commute using a Honda DCT bike?

Thinking about making a change and I use my clutch a ton particularly in the really tight areas of the commute (Great West Road up to the Chiswick roundabout for example) and am wary that DCT may not give the level of control that I'm used to.

I had a Forza 750 for 6 months before it got nicked and the DCT is the answer for the commute. Feels strange at first but you soon get used to it.

You can change gear manually but I never really bothered. It's very predictable just in auto mode, so controllable. Low speed stuff isn't an issue. Was a great bike and i'd have got another one if it wasn't a scumbag magnet.

Ended up getting a BMW C-Evolution electric jobbie on the basis that London low life probably live in flats so won't be able to charge it. Seemes to have worked so far but I'm still pleasantly surprised that it's still in the bike park every day after work.

Sorry to hear about the bike being stolen - glad that your new one is still with you!

Thanks for the response - I've booked a test ride so we'll see how it all feels.

Another easy day, slightly warmer and lighter too..

More drivers seemed to be paying attention at the roadworks this morning and more moved over to give me a bit more room, always wave as a thank you.

Maybe they are getting used to me in the mornings again..

Rain for us today so bike remained in the garage.

My commute is a snore fest, Bromsgrove to Solihull via the M42 so I'm keen to try some A road alternative routes when the weather cheers up.
I'm still getting used to my KTM Superduke GT, so easing into this riding season is fine. I'd probably have an off if I waited til summer and went hell for leather.

I used to live not far away from you and used to go into Coventry. M42/A45 when wet, back roads when dry and a far longer route back so I've explored a lot of that area.

Changed jobs though and the office isn't that far outside Solihull. I'm rarely in the office but I'm not *that* far off the same route and there are not that many good routes tbh.

There are some really decent B road routes but they're quite a bit of a diversion.

Torrential this morning. Certainly weren’t many bikes on the Kent-City via Blackwall route! M25 and A2 both busy, went the A2 way as M25 J3 (for the A20) seems to be gridlocked at the moment, and I’m not sure why.

I had to repair my forks over the weekend as one of them started to leak oil quite badly. My fault because I had the forks partially dismantled a few weeks ago to install Hyperpro springs, and didn’t change the seals at the time. Stripping them down more, and replacing all the seals and those copper/PTFE bushes is a very satisfying job though. I also backed the damping on the (Nitron R1) rear shock off a few clicks - ride is noticeably more plush over the appalling London roads now.

Torrential rain here today so my plans were scuppered, I took the car. I saw a chap on a brand new Multistrada Rally weaving his way through traffic, though. I admire his perseverence given the sideways rain.

(plus I am vastly jealous of the bike) grumpy

Rain seems to be the theme of the day - also my experience this morning. I'd have been better off riding a submarine in. Was still remarkably dry underneath the RST waterproof 2 piece thing I have, which was a pleasant surprise when getting to my destination. You could have wrung-dry my Arai, though.
