Lol. I'll have to use that.

Real men ride scootays over the North Downs for fun...

(slightly stting it)
Not wrong. Who'd have thought 15mph on a scooter could be scarier than 4th gear superbike wheelies?

Sorry to hear that not everyone made it all the way home on two wheels, hope there no serious damage to either person or bike. I skipped off at 4:00 as planned and it was really heavy rain all the way home, I was soaked when I go back. Beat the heavy snow though.

This morning I went outside when I got up and decided that today would be a train day. I live on a cul-de-sac and the street was completely iced up, i wasn't sure I could even get of the drive without dropping the bike, let alone to the A3.

Did anyone brave/risk it today?

Nope same here, cul-de-sac with a sharp hill at the top, the snow has turned to crunchy ice with a layer of black ice on any car tracks. The main roads look ok from the train this morning but I wouldn't have made it 100m down my road let along up the hill, a couple of cars got stuck going up it already this morning.

It was tricky enough just walking to the station and staying upright!

Even my car was tricky getting into the office. Bloody ice rink! Walking from car park to office was the worst bit though - I wish I'd brought my ski sticks.

West London is generally fine and dry roads, and temperature readout on the bike told me it was 4 degrees. A few small slippy patches but nothing you can't see. No need to worry about conditions today.

Not much fun riding home last night in the wet but the snow/sleet barely touched W.London.

Exactly the same for me, so I had to drive then train.

Equally glad that I wasn't on the bike when I encountered (Vauxhall) Mokka Man on the M20 who, despite the outside lane being covered in a thick layer of frozen-solid slush, decided that since his imitation-SUV sadmobile looked a bit like a 4x4, it must be 'ard enough to cope, and kept swerving out and overtaking stuff. I ended up dropping back just to make sure he didn't collect me during one of his antics.

My road was all iced up this morning to get out of my house. Main lane and main roads were generally clear. I braved it - Scooter made it again smile

Mental ride home last night! 20mph on the M20 from Sidcup to Jct 7 & then it only got worse as I went down roads that hadn't been used - I sat on the inside lane all the way back - most extreme ride I've done, fingers were so numb I couldn't feel the levers but luckily I didn't need them that much laugh

Shoveled the ice off my drive this morning and the ride in was Ok once on the main roads - just had to look out for sheets of ice flying off the lorry's on the M20

Its cold, bit windy but relatively dry in the E14 area.
My commute was a few meters this morning, decided to work at home, could have used the bike to go in no issues had I wanted to. There is a bit of residual snow on the car.. nothing on the ground.

Hats off to those who rode. In the end I would have been safe to ride home (though soaked), but I got brownie points for picking up Mrs HJ in the car, and bringing her in again today. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to ride this morning - sheets of ice all over the place. I ended up picking up a colleague who normally rides in from two or three miles away. He couldn't even get his GS on to the road.

Most dangerous part of my journey was the walk to the garage. The roads were fine

Roads from Weybridge to Canary Wharf were all fine. Salty as fook though. The bike looks diamond encrusted.

Weebles (Fleegles) wobble but they don't fall down.

Got caught out a couple of years ago by exactly the same situation we had yesterday and ended up tarmac surfing (a mere 4 miles from home after a 50 mile commute!).

So, decided to take the car into town. Amazingly they called it right! Even then, left early to avoid the main carnage and still took an hour longer than usual.

As others said, the snow wasn't the main issue, today it's the ice underneath. No salt round here either.

As such, stayed put!

Was fine this morning once onto main road. I'm sure the trains would've been shagged so bike was the only option.

Had to take train in today. Main roads were fine but my driveway and local road were ice rinks. (cry)

Picked up my new (to me) blackbird on the way in, cold but mostly dry/clear here but still a bit nervous of an unknown bike. In and out without mishap, apart from some extended garage rearranging to fit it in

What the hell is the matter with weather forecasters? Why do they even bother?

Looked at Accuweather at midnight. A shower around 10am it said. "A" shower.

Not a torrential and continuous downpour from 6am.

Seriously. 7 hours ahead and the're not remotely accurate. wkers.

Dark and wet with rain for the commute in today, solid traffic and literally about two other bikes the whole journey. Back to normal smile
