And today's commuting highlight is...
Discussion
www.raintoday.co.uk - accurate rain radar. I always check this now before riding, in fact someone in this thread told me about it.
I was going to comment on the weather too. Carole Kirkwood, who, last time I checked, works for the BBC, said it would be "damp". The BBC Weather website said it would be dry (all week). Right hand vs left hand? In fact it was bloody wet.
Lowlights today. One was the really high level of (very dozy) traffic, filtering was hard work today. And the other one was, on the M20, everything slowed down on hazards, and when we got to the incident, on the hard shoulder there was an R6 which had clearly been over, and a van. How do you dump a bike on a motorway? My guess is that he's one of the slalom kings, the van moved out on him and he grabbed a big handful of front brake, but I could be wrong. Bike and Rukka'd rider were at least upright.

What the hell is the matter with weather forecasters? Why do they even bother?
Looked at Accuweather at midnight. A shower around 10am it said. "A" shower.
Not a torrential and continuous downpour from 6am.
Seriously. 7 hours ahead and the're not remotely accurate. wkers.
Yep, drives me utterly insane!! I read somewhere the Met Office spent £100,000,000 on a new super computer which would be the last word in accuracy & could forecast the next 24 hours with near certainty. ITV local forecast, BBC weather app, both said it would be dry from yesterday 5pm, all day today, & until at least the end of next weekend. Rain radar says otherwise. BBC weather app now showing rain until 2pm. Not holding my breath....Looked at Accuweather at midnight. A shower around 10am it said. "A" shower.

They also said Saturday would be dry, but it rained from 1pm onward!

Look at all you fair weather bikers! You're 98% water, what's a bit of rain? And snow? Pah just makes it more interesting. I can't wait for tonight's commute. I'll have a nice hot chilli waiting for me in the slow cooker when I get back.
Ha! Me too! Safe ride home everyone.

It's a forecast, not a prediction. At certain times of the year we are looking at the weather forecast 3 and 4 times a day, once you get to know what to look for in your area I find them pretty good. Looked at Accuweather at midnight. A shower around 10am it said. "A" shower.

It appears they are all out today
The cyclist without lights
The 3 abreast cyclists who were totally oblivious to what disruption they were causing
The Mercedes driver that doesn't use his mirrors and decided to start a u turn until he realised there was a bike alongside his drivers door
The Prius driver reading his book at the front of the traffic lights
The nervous scooter rider blocking the filter path
The rider with his gopro on trying to make good footage when he should concentrate on making good progress
Still in one piece though

Today's highlight must have been a lowlight for someone else.
Went to join the M20 at J4, traffic virtually at a standstill and queuing to get down the slip road, (which isn't usual). Do I filter through, or, if there's been an accident, should I turn round and go another way because they might stop everyone while they clear it up?
Turned round and went another way. Wasn't sure I had done the right thing until I joined the M20 at the next junction up. Nothing at all coming up from the direction of the hold-up. Total motorway traffic = me and three cars. Safe in the knowledge that all the upholders of the leur were busy elsewhere, I was able to make, ahem, rather decent progress all the way up the motorway.
My last commute into CW today. I'm elsewhere the rest of this week, and we move into new offices at St Kath Dock next week, so I'll be trying new routes.

There was a smashed up Astra sat in the middle lane just before the M26 turn off - was nice and clear after thatWent to join the M20 at J4, traffic virtually at a standstill and queuing to get down the slip road, (which isn't usual).
