Snap. I now officially need some new ones.

And on top of that, got into the car park this morning, went for my top box key (which contains my chain and my work bag with work clothes in it) only to find that I had somehow failed to pick it up. For reasons far too long and boring to even think about typing out, but relating to where my laptop was and my plans for next Monday & Tuesday, turning round and going home was not an option, so I am now sat in the office in a motley medley of un-matching clothes.

I am not having a good day!

You've pretty much captured my thoughts. There is clearly some ''education' dare i say enforcement and associated financial penalty required on the side of the London cyclists too. Equal fair enforcement.
Whilst yes there are cyclists killed or injured by poor driving there are also cyclists killed or injured by their own actions too.

My point was hammering motorcyclists for using a cycle box isn't going to fix the root cause of cyclist safety and since I'm sure the stats will back it up I'm wondering just how few if any cyclists are killed in accidents with motorcyclists in London each year?

I've enjoyed my peaceful and relaxing week off work and the commuting, back to normal come Monday though.
I do wish this grim weather would do one though first if possible smile
Yeah I agree. In fact I think those boxes should be shared with motorcyclists in the same way as bus lanes are. I personally think it's less safe for them to be in front, veering from side to side as they head off from the lights (assuming they've actually stopped in the first place). This makes it even harder to see what the fk they're about to do and where they're going to go. Not the best place to be when sharing with fast accelerating bikes.

My point was - further to that, cyclists need to be hammered more to ride safely and *with consideration for other road users*. I would LOVE to get my hands on the raw stats and see exactly how far they are to blame for their accidents. I've actually seen pedestrians picketing with signs at some sets of lights for cyclists to stop, where they have raced through and actually killed pedestrians. I also saw some staff in an office mourning the sad loss of a cyclist when he had died trying to pass a lorry on the left in the left hand bend on lower thames street. I wouldn't even DREAM of doing something as mindbogglingly stupid as that and I could get past in a fraction of the time. They actually wrote a collective letter to the mayor to introduce cycle lanes here because of the evil inconsiderate lorry drivers. And guess what... All I can think is my heart goes out to that poor lorry driver who has to live for the rest of his life with the nightmares brought on by the stupidity and self entitlement of others. makes my blood boil.

What is most frustrating is that a number of European research projects looked into the pros and cons of allowing PTWs to use the advanced stop cycle (AKA Puff) box, and found that there were no negatives (other than the moaning of a few lycra locusts) and there was some evidence it reduced accidents for PTWs. Punishing PTW riders for doing what is the safest, although illegal, option has always struck me as perverse.

Still trying to snow outside. Actually, it is snowing in Hatfield now I look outside. Warm and cosy in my Panzerwagon this morning.

Obviously I didn't want to say anything earlier, but my commuting highlight today was walking back to the car park and the bike was still here. Because, as above, I forgot the top box key this morning and the chain travels in the top box. And the key to the emergency disklok which lives under the seat is on the same bunch as the top box key. And I couldn't turn round and go home again because that would have buggered up the first few days of next week.

Rode home in the "snow". And relax, it's Friday beer

Not looking forward to this ride home in 30 minutes. 2 hours sat in this gash weather,

Hoping i wont need my waterproof as I cannot plug my heated jacket in when I have that on.

It's been a good day to be at home!

At least it's half-term next week so it should be quieter.

Another gritting on the way in, plus a hackney cab with snow over most of its windows and a minicab/uber pulling into my lane across my bows on the M6 without indicating.

Standard.

Standard yes.

Bloke in a white Merc almost ran me over. On the A56 at the mini express way point after Old Trafford, he'd decided to join the merging traffic early and completely ignore my honking. Very close indeed. Had some pleasant words for him at the end of the road, his excuse was he didn't see me...despite me stopping right in front of him at the lights. Absolutely intentional and a complete nob.

Managed to leave for work a little late this morning, thankfully just about managed to get in on time and without incident, was nice feeling some grip too!....

However I managed to leave my wallet at home, the bike flicked onto the reserve tank shortly after leaving the house and I have no lunch with me, going to try and borrow £20 from a friendly PH'er in the office to see me in Tesco's sandwiches and the bike with enough fuel to actually get me home smile

Unfortunately not - have an iPhone but never set up the apple pay

One for this evening I think

Fairly normal commute this morning which sadly now includes some truly pansy filtering/riding by some.
Seriously poor nervous riding on a GSXR of some description the engine doesn't matter it was a slow moving roadblock with at least 5 other bikes including myself behind through the limehouse link and onto the highway heading west into town. Seems the throttle didn't work on this thing at all or he didn't have the physical power or skill to open it.

Anyway got past this idiot eventually and nothing came back past me again save for one L plated scooter who ran a red at a ped crossing on completely the otherside of the road and the large traffic island section separating the lanes.

Its half term which has made some of my route more empty than normal but seems to me just the central part of town.

Route home last night was great for traffic but terrifying for standard of driving. About five people pulled out on me / SMIDSY etc on the way home which was a significantly higher level of fkwits than normal. Beware the half-termers on the roads!

Yesterdays highlight was having to wait at a green light to allow about 60 or so chav scum st heads run red lights on their stolen wkmobiles. It's a poor state of affairs that these pondlife are allowed to run riot without any fear. There was a distinct lack of number plates, carving up other road users, I saw 3 without helmets, one of which was on a motox bike with no lights/plates and knobblies, and of course the obligatory wheelies.

I understand that the police stood back so as not to light the touchpaper, but I hope each and everyone of these rodents gets a 4am visit by the task force and receives a very special kicking

Or just hope they crash and cave their head in without inuring any innocents, seems a more permanent solution.

Someone was down outside st Katherine's dock/the mint couldn't make out what bike it was.
There was a Prius with it's front bumper hanging off and a scuff all along the front.
I couldn't work out what had happened the car was on the heading east side of the road so was the bike.
Ambulance was there as I went past bloke sat in car so i presume the rider in the ambulance so I hope the rider is OK.
This was just before 08:00 this morning.
