ok, just had it confirmed. The ABS can't be deactivated on a standard bike BUT the guys aren't reporting problems with it being overly intrusive. There is a work around which you know or you can run lines directly to the calipers from the MC. But is it worth it???
One nugget that did come up is the standard bike has a rear ride height adjuster that the M version doesn't come with. Look to get this as everyone seems to be changing their geomentry quite significantly in the rear.
Hope you enjoy John, should be a cracker thumbup
Steve

Hi. I think running lines direct from the M/C to the calipers, may also require an ABS disable signal being sent to the IMU/ABS ECU? There seem to be a lot of aftermarket ECU "solutions" offering this? If it were not needed, I'm not sure why they'd bother?
I understand but speaking with the guys, and some are frighteningly quick, they're not doing anything. Spoke to Sheridan Morais's dad who jollies about on his new R1 fecking quickly and barring a pipe, there's nothing done to it.
So do I believe bar room rumour or the guys in the pitlane doing the times??
Some people love to build up the BS wink
One of my mates who said his ABS was kicking in on track is a ex South African racer, he's not the sort to bulst having known him for 8 years.

When I get mine on track I'll see how I get on, I'd rather not have to change things for nothing, I'd be quite happy keeping the ABS as it is if i'm honest.

Very nice, John. Looking forward to seeing the angry wasp flying around Croft.

Sorry if I've missed it, but are you planning on doing much, if any, road riding with it?
Cheers Grahame, the only thing I have booked is a day at Silverstone in July which is a free day you get when you buy an M model, there are technicians on hand and a few racers to show you up on track.

Out of interest John, what's his name?? Is he from the JHB/Gauteng region?
I'll check if he really is a Bullstter or not for you roflroflroflrofl
some of the guys are making noises about being able to run dedicated lines to the calipers from the MC and just plugging the ABS units ports but leave it installed & connected.

Anyway, if you have it painted like this...

It looks very VERY nice..

For a Yam

Which are st

Really st.

But that's nice..

For a st bike...
I wasn't doubting or saying you were wrong Steve, I respect your opinion and I take it as gospel if you say something is so.

I don't think its fair to mention his name (Daryn) hehe on here, Fleegle was on track with him at Jerez last month, he's a quick lad and can peddle a motorcycle a damn sight faster than I can or indeed a lot of other people.

He's lived in the UK for years now but still talks really funny.

I'll post a picture of him on one of his old race bikes (in the UK)and on his R1 so that Fleegle can remember who I'm on about. (if he's reading this far)
