I've managed to get a stone chip on the tank of my 10 month old bike, and it's all the way down to the metal. furious

5p for scale:

Normally I'd pay a professional to fix it, but I'm off on holiday on it in a week, so I don't think there's time to go down that route. I still need to do something to protect it in the meantime though, as I don't want a rust spot to develop.

Are the paint touch up kits on ebay any good? I don't necessarily need a permanent fix, but I'd like it to look OK until I can get it sorted properly.

Drop a touch of nail varnish into the hole.

I can honestly say that it wasn't me. At a guess the stone hit my helmet and then bounced off onto the tank. I couldn't believe it when I saw it.

So frustrating. Are those chipsaway types any good with this type of thing?

No.

As above touch it up with a tooth pick.
