Rossi has identified his starting a race as a weak point, so he did 8 practice starts on Saturday.
Smart move.
In the race Lorenzo had one of the best starts I've ever seen.
Rossi's engine blow up has deprived us all of, potentially, a classic race.
Yep, it was shaping up to be something special. The last few laps of MM and JL were entertaining but it wasn't what it would have been. I do love Rossi but I don't lose interest if he can't win. I just know that it would've been a serious battle had all 3 of them been in it. Rather than just a few entertaining laps at the end.

It was a shame the engine failed. However....with Marquez sat fairly comfortably behind those two, the race could have turned in to a robustly fought three-way fight to the line, and that would mean the possibility for even more conspiracy wangling.

I guess we'll have to wait for the next press conference, to see if any 'data' and video replays convince a certain someone that Marquez rolled-off onto the finish straight, to let Lorenzo have the five points. smile
If he does say that, then he will definitely have lost the plot. Marquez had the chance to go equal top of the championship, but is now 10 points adrift. There's no chance either of those are helping each other, they didn't even look like they were on speaking terms in part ferme.

MM barged into JL quite heavily on the last lap when overtaking. Not the type of thing you would do while helping someone.

Unless of course it was to throw the scent

What does that tell you?
It tells me that Rossi fans are frustrated that he's not as good as he used to be.
.... He is still in the premier class of motorsport, so I dont think your comment really sticks

Those are the early factory wings that Lorenzo was using originally, Rossi was using them a few times up until Mugello but has now gone large.

Especially when he was forced up on the kerb when Marquez chopped across his front wheel turning in.

Rossi fans are the worse kind of fans. Pathetic people.
fking do one
^^^^ my thoughts too, what a pathetic thing to say, prick.
macdeb, you are just feeding the trolls with such a response, disgusted or otherwise.

The fact that Rossi has done more for the sport than any other rider in history speaks for itself. In the late 80's early 90's the viewing audiences predominately consisted of bikers (generalising but you know what I mean), now even numpty 1 and numpty 2's grand-mother watches the sport with a cuppa thumbup

The fans behaviour is poor, but not much different to football fans behaviour in the same country or other parts of Europe. Until the behaviour is made unacceptable culturally, it will continue, with regret.

I'm a Rossi fan from his 125GP days, when the Mop was prevalent. However despite not wishing for Jorge or Marc to win, I respect both massively for their talents and the level of risk the latter especially is prepared to take. REESPECT to all, nuff said!

Now onto the racing, awesome Moto3, by far the most entertaining race of the weekend, good luck betting on that one for the win, but Brad did excellent and has cemented his No.1 contender status this season.

Moto2 was proper disappointing. Zarco was given a gift really. Shame that Sam didn't put a new tyre on, even if it upset his balance a bit it would have helped him fight for the win. As it was, great banzai last lap to recover a podium. REESPECT!

....and the MotoGP cry sad about the engine failure. It did look set to be a classic but it ended too early to know for sure. Definitely looked like Vale had the early pace, but he has no chance with the starts Lorenzo is dishing out if he can't match that 60~200 foot jump out of the blocks. Typically Vale is 5th doing his usual start and Lorenzo 1st getting 100 yards on everyone by the end of the first lap.

I think both riders compromised their entry for the last corner (given both were fighting to be first going in), so both didn't have the ideal line, but I disagree about who had the better exit, got to WOT first etc. It was marginal and the riders usually tell you what you need to know. The Honda acceleration cost Marc the race, as admitted by him, and by Jorge stating "unexpected win" in the interviews afterwards. Jorge knew both him and Marc exited well enough and that he was far enough back not to get there by the SF, especially given his experience chasing a Honda out of the last turn, but I digress.

Never in my 28yrs of watching the sport have I seen Honda being at the receiving end of their own equation. Sad for Mark as he did enough to win imo and was pushing his luck on more than a few occasions, but LOL @ Honda, as they need to change their attitude to never admitting being wrong...sorry couldn't resist.

It was great to see Marquez has not forgot how to fight with Lorenzo after his poor showing during the Jerez championship decider last year.

Before anyone jumps on my case I have one foot in the Rossi camp and the other (easy) in Marquez's camp.

I was over the moon when I thought Marquez had piped Lorenzo.

Has he really forgot how to fight?

The honda is difficult to ride and marquez is the only rider to have cracked it.

Maybe he's accepted that having the least amount of dnf's is going to get him the title not race wins.

The insinuation was he forgot how to fight to help Lorenzo beat Rossi in last years title decider. Until pedrosa overtook him to try and spoil the party, then he remembered how to overtake again

Last year he forgot how to fight in the final race, well, until his team mate passed him.
