Great thread all are very informative and a great read. I wasn't until recently into bikes and know very little, but the TT is incredible and got me hooked, been following it since been blown away by Closer To The Edge in 2010 and recently ROAD, started looking at the history and truly admire all riders. Looking forward to my first visit next year.

I'm astounded by the pace this year especially the Seniors race. What do you reckon everyone, after all that's been said and done.

1.If Dunlop, Hutchinson and McGuinness had exact same bike who would be quickest?

2. After watching Dunlops record lap which was mesmerising, Is that the limit or could he go even quicker somehow?

Thanks

Ah in that case I may have misunderstood too.

I'm struggling to understand what Hutchy is getting at. The failings of his team are not MDs concern.
Totally agree on both points. He'd got such a bee in his bonnet about the supersport engine shenanigans that he was barely making any sense around the engine issue for the Senior. I think he was so upset about rumours that MD had said he was using an illegal 600 engine that he couldn't contain himself enough to explain the Senior issue clearly. Definitely not MD's issue though and he was right to cut that short with his comment about using engines anyone can buy (if that is the case.)

Bit surprised and disappointed by Hutchy's petulant performance in the press conference really. Obviously more driven and determined than his normal demeanour would have us believe, although it shouldn't be surprising that he's got that fire burning inside him given what he's fought back from.

ETA: you might not have misunderstood the senior engine story, it could well be me...

All BMW competitors receive input from BMW Motorrad how each individual team goes about their setup is down to them Hutchy said his bike had big top end which will be down to how it's tuned Michael said his engines were bought just the same as anyone could.
To change the characteristics of the engine requires change to cam profiles, exhaust and induction lengths etc. which all need to work together. Not the kind of thing you can change in 1/2 hour as the mood suits.

They'll have set the engine characteristics before they got to the NW200 now look at Hutchys top speed at the NW200 which shows his engines had top end they'll have been on the island for 5 days before practice.

In some ways I could see why hutchy would be pissed off about the alleged calls for cheating (which look to be untrue and kt made in the first place) I mean why would he, coming back from basically an almost ruined career I guess I would be pissed off too specially working as hard as he did. Plus I guess after six laps of a hard fought race he snapped.

However I do feel it's sour grapes in so much as his lack of reply to Michael on the big bikes. Either way I hope both continue to come back to TT! It's been epic.

One of the things I love about road racing is how real the riders are, there no PR-machines or sanitised remarks. And when John McGuinness has had a problem, he tells people exactly what it was! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAexXyzPdg0
