Street triple ordered!
Discussion
That was my thinking - but talking to the garage they didn't think anything was likely to turn up anytime soon that would be better then the deal that was already available. To be honest the bike is so good I didn't really care about the new model, I'm sure it will be fantastic but the existing bike is so distinctive I figured I'd go for it now, I can always trade in next year if I really have to!

I love the 675 but not tried a Daytona yet.
Thinking about returning to a Street Triple once i'm able to ride again, bike-less again!!
Hoping there may be some good deals on the current model if a new Street Triple is announced.

If your back is fked the Daytona isn't the bike for you, although the Street hurts my back more than the Daytona. I'm an odd shape though.

Funnily enough my back is good to go now.
But took a tumble tail end of last year and broke arm/shoulder and fecked up my arm internally.
So I need a light bike!
The black/red RX is spot on looks wise.
The fked arm doesn't bode well for a sportsbike, the Daytona puts a lot of weight through the arms at pootling speed, alright once out of town though. But took a tumble tail end of last year and broke arm/shoulder and fecked up my arm internally.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Street, especially the black Rx.
They are great bikes - until you take one touring. I've just got back from a trip to France, where I was with bikers with more powerful and faired bikes.
The journey to and from our destination in France was horrible - no wind buffeting and complete exposure to the elements. My neck was taking a beating even when I was trying to tuck in, due to the fly screen not offering any wind resistance.
I've also realised it does lack power coming off my 899 Panigale. Trying to keep up with faster bikes on the straights was impossible, as anything over 90 mph knocks the wind out of you. In the twisties I was having to use all the gears and completely rang the bike to bits.
I want to go back to France and I'm thinking the Street Triple R would not be the right choice for the type of trip and the bikes that tend to ride with me. I tried a mates GSX-S1000FA in France, which was far more comfortable to ride due to the fairings and a powerful beast, but not as much fun in the twisties. Might just have to take the 899 Panigale next time and suck it up if it rains.

Considering a Street Triple as my next bike. How is it as a daily use bike? I do a 15 mile each way commute (mainly A-road) in all weathers and I'm a bit worried that the lack of fairing will be a bit wearing when the weather is less than ideal.
Well your situation sounds similar to mine and I bought one, mind you I already ride a naked, i find it helps keep the speed sensible!boyse7en said:

I do a 30 mile each-way commute, 2/3 of which is on open Fen roads, and I tend to avoid windier days. In decent conditions and on more sheltered roads it goes fine, I don't find higher speeds a problem. But if I was riding every day then I would err towards something with fairing. R&G do them I think, about half the price of the Evotech ones. They used to do nice little blanking strips for the holes left by removing the footpegs too.
ETA: I got my brandless tail tidy from Australia, it was about £30 delivered, smaller and neater than the branded ones and came with 2 pairs of mini LED blinkers. Worth a look on ebay for something similar maybe, generally if you buy from the States or Aus on there, the seller sends it unmarked so you don't get hit by any import fees

Both the Evotek and Tripletek seem difficult to get hold of. Does anyone know of any others worth looking out for?
Not sure what you're trying to talk to them about, but Evotech were spot on when I bought a number of items from them last month including a tail tidy. They'd be my first point of call for more premium stuff in future.
This is what I have on my Daytona, obviously only fits these bikes with underseat exhausts. It's metal, feels powdercoated. Fits perfectly, leaves a small gap around my Arrow can without touching it, a 7x5 plate fits perfectly, came with micro indicators and an LED plate light.
For the price and fit / quality though, great bit of kit.
I've changed the silver screws That I used initially, all the wiring is wrapped and hidden too.
