Most sports bike riders buy purely for what the bike looks like, and to be a part of the gang. Most would be far better suited to something else (sports tourer, commuter etc) but they put up with being uncomfortable and stuff because they like the style of bike)
U wot m8

I think you'll find a smaller number of sportsbike riders than you think ride them for looks. And the sheer bulk of Harley riders ride them purely for looks and to be part of the gang. As evidenced by the amount of tat one can buy for Harley so one can prove how much part of the gang they are!

Looks like, smells like, sounds like...

HD may not call it a cafe racer but it's clear to see where the inspiration came from. That is of course fine, but it's a shame to see them plodding on like this when they could be making something sportier along the lines of Buell.

It's probably the best looking bike that HD make but that isn't saying much.
Sporty sportsters haven't been a sales success since the '60s XLCH, and, having failed with the XLCR, the XR1000, and the XR1200, I can't see Harley wasting money on yet another attempt.

I assume that they have seen Sportsters being made into "cafe" bikes and believe that there is enough of a market to recover the minimal costs of changing the 'bars, seat etc., and fitting their unused stock of XR forks.

Pics? smile

ETA: was it new? If so, what sort of wait is there if you order one?
