Doesn't always follow; some Suzuki GSX 4's needed the outer carbs set to flow a bit more air at idle than the inboard pair... so they hissed more.
I can confirm, the outer carbs are also jetted higher too, on a Mk1/Mk2 bandit 600, Carbs 1 & 4 are using 98 main jets, and 100 on 2 &3 as standard IIRC.

(Correct me if i am wrong)

Quite a few bike engines were jetted to run richer on the middle cylinders from the factory, since those cylinders run hotter. However I've never heard of different idle vacuums needing to be set, what does this help with?

ISTR it was said to be due to the difference in inlet tract lengths (downstream of the filter box).

Thanks a lot for the replies. I have taken the carbs back off to give them another thorough clean before I give up!
This is the pistons in the carbs, they look incredibly tired, any chance this could be my issue? Thank you.

You need to clean the carbs again, thoroughly this time, if the state of that needle is any guide.

They are clean. That's not the end product. Cheers.
