I dont wear pink as I dont want people to know Im a woman, and I dont wear a Polite vest as a dont want to be seen a being a prick
I forgot my hi-viz for work today, left it in the car. My female colleague wasn't in so I borrowed her pink hi-viz jacket that she'd left in the office. I've never had so many appreciative comments A mate who I regularly ride with wears one and he rides a White Honda. I wouldn't wear one myself but to be fair people do treat him with more respect and we get let out of junctions more often. He had a really nasty accident some years ago and decided to take every precaution under the sun to avoid another. I can completely see his logic and I'd rather that than him give up bikes. To be fair as well he is a quick rider and good fun to go out with, so they're not all s

Oh, come on! Please don’t ruin the bigoted stereotypical views people have of those who wear POLITE vests. He must still be a tosser, if only for riding a Honda! 8potdave said:

Sorry he's still a .Why doesn't he just wear a regular high vis? It has all the same safety benefits without making you look like a nobber. In his case, with the white Honda (and white lid?) he'll still look like a copper anyway from a distance, but won't look like a POLITE .
Oh FFS - motorcycles generally have a large bright orb at the front, illuminated 24/7, & I for one, overtake pretty much every 'cage' I come across, particularly filtering through traffic, so I simply can't see the point in hi-viz, let alone the 'polite' crap that (anecdotally) appears to really annoy other road users, as they somehow feel duped into slowing down/taking it easy.
Surely if you are coming up on traffic, drivers would notice your headlight before any hi-viz clothing???

Seems totally bizarre to me - IMO, bikes are generally out ahead of traffic, accelerating away, so why would visibility from behind be a general problem?? Mopeds/scooters I guess are a different kettle of fish...Biker 1 said:

Believe it or not, some old bikers do drive slowly in crawling traffic and occasionally come to a stop Edited by Speed 3 on Thursday 30th June 20:22

The bit in bold pretty well invalidates your opinion and puts you in a close second to the Polite knobbers. Surely if you are coming up on traffic, drivers would notice your headlight before any hi-viz clothing???
