====Thread Resurrection========
I've finally given up on my Schuberth pile of st helmet and crappy broken inbuilt intercom unit.
I'm now looking for an intercom to fit my Arai. Lots of interesting feedback in this thread but a lot of mixed reviews.
I tend to use the radio a lot and would listen to spoken word podcasts if I could but the Schuberth POS was too quiet and meant that music from the phone or spoken word stuff couldn't be heard (to be fair I use ear plugs).
Has anyone tried the Sena 10U Arai Full Face Intercom? Or is there a better simpler solution using a set of headphones plugged into your phone...?

I used to use headphones, threaded down into my phone in an inside jacket pocket. Recently splashed out for a Sena 10C, loving it so far. Bit of a faff setting it up, and getting used to not having headphones quality music, but now that it's all linked up and I've padded out the speakers it's pretty good. 4/5 stars.Has anyone tried the Sena 10U Arai Full Face Intercom? I've had a Sena SMH5 and a 20 on my RX7-GP and before that on a full-face Arai. Reckon between them they've done over 50,000 miles flawlessly through all conditions. I used hard-wired Autocoms before the Sena and there's no way in hell I'd go back.
I honestly can't recommend them enough. I've connected them to my phone, sat nav and chums - it all just works.

I now have the Scala Rider G9x and use it for both my commute and for communication with other riders on Euro trips.
I always use ear plugs and careful positioning of the speakers means that the music/phone volume needs only be very slightly louder than I would have without earplugs. I listen to music via an MP3 player hard wired into the AUX jack on the headset but could just as easily listen to FM radio
When in bike to bike mode we’ve had up to 9 units inter connected and the range has proven to be surprisingly good. The units have enough range to make it fun in twisty roads to try and get the message “Rider B disconnected” for the person behind you!
I’ve had a number of long (20 minutes plus) work related phone calls at motorway speeds where the person on the other end of the call was completely unaware that I was on a motorbike.

G9x is stunning. Seems a lot more reliable and easier to use with app integration, than the G9 that others in our touring group use. Made up with mine. We've also linked 6 people. G9x also seems to be the most reliable 'bridge' if connecting 3 people with different model Scalas.I always use ear plugs and careful positioning of the speakers means that the music/phone volume needs only be very slightly louder than I would have without earplugs. Only downside is that radio reception is not great.

We used the 9x units to bridge a variety of different scala units to get a nine rider group and it all worked well. As long as the "bridging" units kept within range of each other we could all hear each other without issue.

Are people using these along with earplugs? I have put a Scala Q1 on my Christmas list but worried I won't hear a thing.
Main aim is to be able to listen to some radio on the 2h commute.
Thanks
Yeh - don't worry mate. I use my Q1 and Q3 with ear plugs, without fail. Sat at 90mph you can hear it clear as day. Not bad sound quality either!Main aim is to be able to listen to some radio on the 2h commute.
Thanks

Hello
I have a Scala Q1 on my Arai and XLite and its a great bit of kit I use it with the pad that sit in the helmet and use it for the radio and the iphone
Great sound and easy to snyc to your phone the radio on it is great too.
Interesting you say this..I have a Scala Q1 on my Arai and XLite and its a great bit of kit I use it with the pad that sit in the helmet and use it for the radio and the iphone

My radio is crap! I double tap it to get the radio on and the signal is awful. I then tap it once thinking it will tune into a station, but it does not.
Maybe I am doing something wrong!

The range can be quite short in gorges, but being the bridge unfortunately does lead to the game of trying to 'disconnect' other riders when you are all 'on it' by getting far enough ahead. "Rider B... disconnected".

No idea about that one, but if it is anything like the Cardo SHO-1 in terms of reliability I'd avoid.
I've had nothing but grief with mine, had it sent back 3 times in just under a year, twice for loom issues (which you shouldn't get with that one I hope) and once for dead battery, on all occasions it required return of the complete unit.
Personally I'd see how the Senna units stack up in terms of reliability / features.
As a side note, if Cardo go bust, you wouldn't be able to update settings on the device as it requires a connection to their community site to do this, there's no stand alone application (which I think is incredibly s**t)
Cardo will not go bust. Your model is old, I can change anything on my Pactalk from the app on my phone, this also works for the older G9 range, so you don't need the community site. When I bought my Pactalk, the distributor had loads of Sena 20S units that had to be sent back. Guess both Sena and Cardo have duff units occasionally. I have been using Cardo kit for 8 or 9 years and the latest stuff is goodI've had nothing but grief with mine, had it sent back 3 times in just under a year, twice for loom issues (which you shouldn't get with that one I hope) and once for dead battery, on all occasions it required return of the complete unit.

Did lots of digging around and have ended up ordering a Sena 20s rather than the 10u. I would have preferred it to be integrated but the speaker quality was the final deciding factor. Fingers crossed and thank you for the feedback from everyone that helped.
