Nice bike mate what do you have now
Nothing on the road at the moment unfortunately just a CR125 MX bike at the moment while I get the money together to do my A2 licence Good luck with it all, as soon as you get on your first bike and get some miles in you will be addicted!
What u guys think of this please http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hyosung-GT-125-R-2009-Moto...
Robsuarezwatson something to note about this forum. If you ask for advice, you'll get just that: genuine advice, usually based on experience, often years of it. If you ask for advice and ignore it a few times, you'll stop getting advice.
My own advice would be to trust the advice given and avoid a highly strung "race inspired" 2 stroke as your first bike. You'll spend money you don't have on it or spend time looking at it rather than riding because it'll break a lot. Get something which seems boring or sensible. It'll give you lots of trouble free experience while you save up for a real bike.
Enjoy the rest of your biking life.

It looks a bit ratty and is Chinese, so don't expect it to be trouble free.
Reviews on the net look okay and I believe Hyosung are one of the slightly better manufacturers from China.
It's risky, but for £1000, I don't think you have loads of options.
I think the suggestions posted by LiamB earlier are better; riding anything that is 'all show and no go' is a bit Max Power-esque. At least a Supermoto style bike fits the 125cc market without looking silly.

I don't know about the 125 but I know the 650 uses an sv650 engine and I don't think they are all that bad really, certainly better than the Chinese crap.
In terms of reliable, sporty styled four stroke 125s than can be purchased for around £1000, surely the Honda CBR125R is the best bet? I know its not sexy but as others have said, get some experience on something worthy and reliable and then save up / gain some years, take your test and then get a proper bike!
Not sure why you're stuck on looks (well, I am, I was 17 once). It's safe to say, though, that no girls will go out with you because you've got a YBR any more than they will because you've got a cheaper and more practical supermoto style bike. You can't offer them anything so they'll shag the kid with the corsa...or more likely the one with access to his mum's Fiesta ST.
You're only going to have it for a year, anyway, so get something cheap and practical and start saving.
(or go the slightly insane route and learn from that...your own mistakes are a much better learning experience after all)

Not mentioned by the others but might have an influence on affordability, if I were you I would get a insurance quote for the sports type bikes over a naked one, anything with a potentially expensive to replace fairing might put the premium up.
Checked and it's affordable thanks for the heads upPothole said:
