I use a knock off dremel clone and a grinding disc and just chop straight through the side plates.

TBH with what you save by buying C&S kits on line & not knowing if genuine branded makes, I usually buy mine locally.

I will change the sprockets, take the bike to the bike shop & get them to swap chains over - mine has agreed to do this in the price of supplying the kit.

I'll get flamed for riding the bike with an old chain on new sprockets but we're only talking a few miles.
