I disagree with you, watch the video that I posted, those guys are professional stunters. The clutch technique is the correct way and works with any bike.

Is that the one where they dress like failed rappers?

I never realised I was prejudice until I saw that.

I've got no idea what you are talking about? It is just normal gear from our generation. It's better than shorts and a t shirt which is what standard stunter gear is.

I have been browsing PH since 2010 unregistered (mostly wink ) and always liked that pic. There's a man who knows how to wheelie!

When John(Bikers Nemesis) says " like this Prof?" , he isn't asking if Prof likes it , he means " in this manner perhaps" , as that picture you have appreciated for so long is himself, who regularly disappears from view cross country on a near vertical bike ( admittedly not at 150mph plus....!) whenever anyone gets to ride with him on that huge private country estate he resides in 'oooop North'.....
His method may well be worth listening to.
Awesome!

Personally I'd learn with power ones. Crests are your friend, 2nd gear, sit back, keep it pinned over them. Get used to not chopping the throttle and just float them longer from there. Half the battle is getting comfortable with the front being up - then you can work on height, gear changes, clutching etc.

Either than or buy an enduro bike - they take the hamfisted wheelies you do by learning, much better.

None of these are me of course - just picked up off the web.

Aye BN is pretty good at wheelies, my old 929 Blade was the easiest bike in the world to pull long wheelies on, 50mph in second, flick the clutch and up and away into 3rd and 4th, I can't wheelie the SV for st apart from 1st gear power wheelies and nailing it over crests, I thought it would be easy as the old TL thou used to wheelie when you didn't want it to.

Some lame pics which are not me

No- I didn't know either way, but you do, great.
The idea - never relevant, wasn't the reason for the post .
Disagreed - nowhere, I offered it as general info as he is as good as I've ever seen first hand since we had to sling Dodge of the Straightliners ( world wheelie speed record organisers ) off a trackday at Oulton Park for both continuous breach of the rules ( no extended wheelying) between Hilltop and Hizzies....that and the unbridled noise factor from the 'Busa he was using , a good few years ago now ...
That's it, sorry for any confusion thumbup

You not got all that electrickery switched to near zero yet John ?
Ps hoping you're loving the new steed !
Dave - Jazoli, be assured , your ability on that SV is waaay beyond your assertion, I could see you stand a few decent ones up- just bike familiarity and off the bike for a year has you thinking they were poor !
I aim to improve on my own meagre efforts soon !

I've turned the slide and Tc down from 9 too 3, anti- wheelie is staying on full until I get to grips with the new bike, I'm still slower on this than I was on the old R1 but yes, I love it.

Second gear and clutch it. First and a wrist-full is fine but you're playing with fire. Two easiest bikes in my personal history were an RY blade with a PCIII just because it was mega stable once aloft and a K5 GSXR thou. But someone who is actually good at them can rip them on anything. I'm desperate to pull one on the RT but the wreck or even a new clutch while I learn it would ruin me.

Buy an MT-10, they'll lift the front on power in second, so easy its addictive:

https://youtu.be/jAuinx2DYAk

Since I've been fortunate to own half decent bikes I've been less and less inclined to risk ruining them with wheelies, but then I bought the SMT990 and it does them for fun. I stopped using clutch years ago, preferring power and a bar tug or just using road crests when the chance allows. Less abusive to the bike. The MT-10 requires nothing more than accelerating in second gear biggrin

My Brutale 1090RR wheelies with just a little blip in 1st, a bit of a bigger twist in 2nd, from 1/2 revs in 3rd just close and open the throttle sharpish and its up. You have to become proficient at wheelie management or lie on the tank to try and keep it down until you are into 4th.

On a short wheelbase high power naked bike with lower gearing than the superbike its based on, the question becomes not how to do a wheelie, its how the fook do I control the wheelies smile
