Great bike, I got one of these in May. A very learner friendly way into big specs I think. That front end is awesome, and the GSXR rasp from the airbox is intoxicating.

Just don't get carried away and end up having to dodge a Sheriff's court appearance like I did 4 months in owning mine.

Time to update this thread smile

First few miles were like 'installation laps' so get used to postion, mirrors, gear changing but more I rode it the more at ease I became, at a point I was starting to open the throttle a little more (more than I planned for its first ride). The pull is stunning, 5th gear @ 30 mph, the thing just flies.

Oh the standard exhaust, it is a awesome - not sure why others have change it as it screams like a mofo. I didn't take it past 6k as it quite literally st me up, I honestly thought I was high reving it by the ferocious noise from the exhaust only to see 6k on the rev limiter.

I couldn't stop smiling even though it was steady ride, I know that all being well, I'm going to love this bike.

A very happy Gixxer owner but importantly a huge thanks to everyone on this thread for the awesome input as it has got me here today.

Can't wait to get back on!
Firstly congratulations, and well done on riding sensibly to start. The even better news is the grins only going to get bigger as you discover what the engine can do at 13000 RPM, and how it pulls from 30mph in 1st gear, not 5th.

Just get out there and do it, I did mine last year week long DAS course mod 1 Wednesday and mod 2 on Friday purchased speed triple on the Saturday. Had pervious experience off road so that helped massively. Once you nail the controls and seem natural your sorted. Also to remember to enjoy it if you're not it's alot harder and good luck.

Love my Gixxas!

Lovely bike, but lose the tax holder - and the fun bit is that you've only used around 60 of your 120 bhp !

I remember when I first got my bike bike.
I didn't think it was that fast
Then I open the throttle fully, fk me.

Enjoy it as your confidence grows. Take care!

Thank you all; going to try to get out as much as I can as long as the weather and tarmac is dry, so just going to be patient over the next few months.

Any recommend a decent paddock stand; I've seen a few from £25+

Cheers!

I bought some M8 bobbins and use a cheap Warrior stand with hooks from Demon Tweeks. I think that's about £30 all in.

To be honest mate if you can part with the outlay I'd always consider an ABBA stand. They're much more versatile.

They are versatile but a rear paddock stand is much faster simpler and easier for 95% of normal jobs, I have an abba and I hardly ever use it to be honest, I'd recommend these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361740664136

These are where my money would be going

Headstock stands are always useful, ditto with hooked rear stands on bobbins, rather than a "tray" type and at a mega discount too.
