You'll be lucky to get anyone to commit to less than a ten year wait unless you want to pay significantly over list.

The only other way to get bumped up is to spend money on another watch at the dealer and hope they'll reward you.

Personally I don't get all these sales tactics, what's the point in advertising a car or watch you can't actually buy. If anything it just steers me further away from these brands.

I'm still sore that Porsche told me I'm not loyal enough to buy the car I like! I won't be buying a new Porsche following that.

Finding at list now without a probably fairly long wait or calling in some favours? No chance.

HQmilton and davidSW both have a black dialled model...US based but the exchange rate isn't great for you at the moment really, and of course they have a chunky markup.

This 10 year wait is the same old st that has been spouted for years about the previous SS Daytona (116520)...however you could buy one out of several jewellers on Oxford Street for list price +/- without waiting list shortly after launch.

£15k - £13.5k in a couple of hours. Let's keep going and we may be down to a sensible price wink

Good luck with your search - the main watch dealers will buy a new ceramic Daytona for £12-12.5K which is the current floor. Rolex are rumoured to be putting their prices up on Sept 1st which will work its way through into the asking price.

So you want a brand new version of the most sought after watch of the moment for a 'sensible price' without having your name on the waiting list or serious history with an AD?

Genuinely, good luck.

As I understood it, an authorised dealer weren't allowed to sell over retail price.

As I explained, the last time around there was the same 10 year waiting list bs which actually wasn't the case and watches were available at retail on more than one occasion.

Hence the question as to whether anyone knew of any stock.

They aren't, but any AD that has a chance of any coming through would a) have a waiting list or b) know what they have coming through and would be punting it into the grey market via an intermediary. The AD I got mine from said there are now over 100 people behind me on the waiting list at their store. I was lucky enough to get on the list at their store early and they seem to get a good allocation.

Paying over list from the grey market, yes they are readily available. Walking into an AD seeing one 'in the window' and just buying it? Not a chance

This sort of crap starts making me think of the benefits of buying a Seiko.
