Thanks very much for that. It brought back some great memories. cool
I've ridden every bike that he covered there, including the Chopper!
Thanks again.

I've ridden all the 4-strokes there...and the chopper.

But I've never ridden a kettle or a Kawasaki triple. I think the only 'biggish' 2-stroke ever I've ridden was a GT550 when I swapped a shot of my Commando with a mate for a wee run, and I can date that to '75; and I've never been on a 2-stroke since.

nerd The nerd in me says the Z1 he had was a US model not a UK bike wink
Also ridden some of the contemporaries they missed like the CB900, Z1000 and Z1R.

You really missed out, there. The big 2 strokes were fantastic fun, although the 750 Suzi was so tractable it (almost) felt like a 4 stroke!
Like yourself, I also had rides on a lot of bikes that weren't included in the video. In fact, between all my friends, I think I rode practically every 750+ bike between the late seventies and the mid eighties.
Although they were fast bikes in their time, I got a blast on a friends ninja (900) a couple of days ago, and by Christ, that felt quick. Like a bloody motocrosser in the first 3 gears!

Shame the music covered some of the exhaust notes, and that they only rode the Jap stuff. I'd like to have heard how the Guzzi Le Mans and Benelli 750 Sei stacked up.

I owned a few of those back in the seventies, H2,Guzzi Lemans and ridden most of the others.
My H2 was one of my all time favourites.
My mates had Cb750s and Gt750 and it would piss all over thembiggrin.
My memory of the Honda was that it was slow and heavy.
The Gt750 was a smooth tourer, nice bikes.
The Lemans was a classy bike back then though I saw an indicated 155 (admittedly Veglia Borletti clocksrolleyes) probably around 130/135 in real money.I used to grind away the centre stand on it.
H2 had better ground clearance on the right (2 exhaust side) than the left.

Funnily enough, my LM2 was spot on up to 70 when I checked it against the calibrated speedo on my mate's company BMW R80. I thought it might be pushing it to ask if I could check higher speeds. smile

The speedo on mine is definitely optimistic...

Here are a couple of follow ups to that film:

This one's about the two strokes we got after a likely stint on an 'Fizzy':

And this one's the story of the Z1 and how it had the CB750 to thank for its existence:

That was very good, ive briefly ridden my near neighbours H2 and it wasnt very nice to be honest, not that it would put me off buying one but I can understand why he didnt do many miles on it, the 70s bikes and colour schemes look fantastic to me, unfortunately, I think the only thing I do and am only every likely to own from that era and video is the Chopper..

Thanks BigJ.
I'd already seen the second one, so watched the 250s.
I grinned the whole way through it.
I liked the way he sometimes forgot himself, and took his fingers off the clutch lever!
