Apologies for the thread hijack.
My stairs and doors have previously been waxed and some of them now look like they're dry can I use oil over previously waxed wood? I was thinking of wiping down with white spirit first and then using a Danish oil.
Think you can, with the treatex it comes off with light sanding. I would actually do some tests before committing a weekend to this - oil one spindle without any prep other than dusting. treat the next one to a light sanding first. the next one use white spirit, the final one sand thoroughly and use spirit too. Then lok at them and decide which gives you the best finish, Could save you days of tedium My stairs and doors have previously been waxed and some of them now look like they're dry can I use oil over previously waxed wood? Thanks for the tips I was going to trial it on the inside of the under stairs cupboard as a test.Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
