Recently bought a BGTS, and my wife and I have done a few 30 - 40 minute trips with the top down, in the evenings, no problems.

Yesterday we did 1 hr 30 mins, from 11 am, it was hot but felt nice in the car with the hood off, windows up. 40 miles of A road bashing, 15 miles of dual carriage ways, and 10 miles of slow a/b roads. The wife ended up getting a headache by the time we got to our destination, it was mild but more of a heavy head feeling she said. A few hours of relaxing and it had got worse and she was nauseous and just wanted to get home and to bed. (She is still feeling nauseous today) - No shes not pregnant lol.

The same thing happened when we had a 458 Spider for the day and it was hot, however we did cover 400 miles that day and had the hood on for the motorway stints, but the drone was alot more than the BGTS which i think is quite compared on the cruise.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this??

Could it be the convertible wind buffeting/noise?

Sounds more like too much sun and too much champagne to me!

On a serious note - I have just got a wind deflector for my 996 convertible and it makes a big difference to the buffeting when moving at speed

Definitely sounds more likely to be too much sun rather than buffeting. Having a 'breeze' keeping you cool makes you feel as if the sun isn't too hot, sometimes on a hot day I have to put the roof up as I feel my neck and arms burning.

Cheers guys,

When shes on the beach in the sun she is perfectly fine, its me who is always looking for shade. So maybe something to with the car abit, i dunno.

The car does have a wind diffuser.

Does she wear a hat or head protection on the beach?

After 15 years of convertible driving I was constantly aware of the danger of sunburn/stroke.

Also, failing to keep up fluid intake (water etc) on a hot day can lead to headaches and nausea.

In hot sun in an open top would be the cause as the sun is directed straight on to top of head, that why the 987 spyder has the ' sun shade' option ie open top motoring but protected from extreme heat!

Definitely sun stroke.

Always worth leaving sunglasses, a hat, cream and a thin long sleeved t-shirt in the car ready for any very hot days in convertibles. That way you're prepared for every eventuality smile

Definitely sounds like sunstroke.

I had the roof down on a recent day out to Whitby. About 2 hours there and 2 hours back. Didn't have a hat, and didn't feel the strength of the sun due to the wind around the car.

Had to stop on the way back as I started to feel a headache coming on. Felt rubbish all night, and really sick. Sunstroke.

I hate wearing hats too, look like a right plonker. Wife has told me she will take me shopping for a decent one before we set off down to France.

Hope your wife has come round now, it's a horrible feeling.

I think its the car. You need to buy a practical family sedan or a 4x4.

On a serious note. Due to the wind you dont sense the heat from the sun so this sounds like a sunstroke. Plenty of water and shade is the best remedy.

On Saturday i drove 1.300 km from Copenhagen to Kitzbuhel in one go and open all the way in my Project 7 Jaguar. Jaguar has supplied matching integral helmets for the car but trying to avoid looking like Daft Punk i opted for a hoodie instead and that was brilliant. My ears are still ringing through.
